Metal ICS M4A1

I recently bought an ICS M4A1 (the full metal one from kights so its not a cansoft) and I just wanted to know. Can I swap out the stock spring for an M120 spring without having to do any additional upgrades? I would like to bring the fps closer to 400 for outdoor but I'm not going to bother if I need to upgrade a shitload of other parts.

Anyone who know please share the knowledge!

swapping the gears out for a better quality would be a good suggestion... atleast order them and have them on stand-by. A new piston on stand-by wouldn't hurt either...

You can if:
1) You have the Turbo 3000 motor (as long as it's newer you should be good here)
2) Metal bushings
3) A good battery. NiMH is fine as long as it's a good size and quality.

take the motor out and it will say ics 3000 on it, and yes you can run a 120 spring out of the box, they have metal bushing and good gears.. only problem u might find down the road is if its the split mech box which i think urs will be, the upper part of the mech box will start to get crackes in them, may not happen but if it does wont start till after 30 000 rounds or so
cheers

Unscrew the base-plate from the grip and pull the motor out. It'll say what motor it is right on the label. For bushings you have to take the lower mechbox out and just look. If they're metal you're good to go. There are ICS M4 disassembly guides on YouTube and also take a look at some of the guides at http://www.mechbox.com . They're for regular V2 mechboxes but the same principles apply to ICS mechboxes and the parts are the same (or they have ICS equivalents).

with ics guns you basically have to buy ics parts unless you over haul the whole mech box, the motor pinion gear is different, and stupid shit like that, kind of a pain in the ass but they are good guns over all imo also i forgot to mension they make ics compatable upgrade spring kits, but if your changing just the spring you should be fine..

I saw a video that one guy drilled holes into the piston? It like stopped the gears or something getting ripped to shreds. His gun was upgraded though shot like 33 bbs/ second some crazy shit.
