upgraded MP5k not firing
Here are the specs:
TM MP5k CA gears- shim job done until gears have no play and can spin smoothly CA "100 m/s" spring (m100 i believe) CA Bearing spring guide CA bearing piston w/ silent piston head G&P M120 high speed motor 8.4v mini stick battery The gun was firing fine stock. After upgrading, the gun would pull the piston partway and then fail to cycle. Im thinking it could be spring guide getting in the way of piston traveling backwards fully so I chamfered the inside of the piston. Didnt fix it. Manually turned the gears until it fired so it seems to be a problem with power. Is there something wrong with my power setup? |

Use a stronger battery.
That's probably your only problem (unless it's shimmed badly as well) |

Probably your battery.
M100 with my 8.4v nimh 1100mha was a slow chug of a rof no semi-auto, dropped in a MarkIII trigger master and it was not going to move at all. Swapped it for a m110 and grabbed some lipos and all is right.

what would constitute being shimmed badly? I have never shimmed before, but I spent about an hour getting the gears the perfect distance from each other and little play side to side. The gears spin completely freely when not connected to anything.
Oh right I forgot to add the battery is an old marui 8.4v nicad battery so the life is probably almost done. But it just seems weird that the mechbox would bind with a M100 spring.... |

Again, it's your battery.
Plain and simple. Not enough power. |

get a new mini stick battery? NiMh batteries are not only more durable, but have a higher mAh rating then shitty NiCAD batteries.
www.cheapbatterypacks.com This site makes for great group orders, as it has free shipping over a certain amount. I'd recommend the 1500 mAh ELITE cells, because they're awesome. Oh, and while you're at it, switch to deans connectors if you haven't already

thanks, Ill check it out
Yes I will switch to deans connectors asap Do you think a TM MP5k with my setup is ok to run a 11.1v stick lipo? Would it chew up the mechbox quickly? |

I would not advise it, especially with a Classic Army piston. A 9.6 would do fine.

I meant 9.6 NiMh. If you want to do a lipo, I would only suggest a 7.4, as I'm pretty sure an 11.1 would bust your piston, at least.
But, I'm no means an expert, so keep checking

Get a better battery like a new Intellect or Elite 1500/1600mAh stick.

got 1500 mah batt now it works! sigh thats a relief....
also got deans connectors thanks for the help as a side note...just to confirm, a 7.4v lipo typical specs would give higher rof than 8.4v mini 1500mah am i correct? |
