M4/M16 Gearboxes
OK so I have a bit of a problem on my hands:
I was going to order the guarder full tune up kit for TM M4A1 from ehobby: http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/upgrade-p...a1-series.html BUT THEY ARE OUT OF STOCK! So, I'm wondering what the specific differences are between that kit, and this one for the TM M16A1: http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/upgrade-p...-m16a1-vn.html Both AR frames, right? so the only differences I can think, would be to do with the spring and/or cylinder displacement? or are they exactly the same? PART B: I'm assuming the gearboxes from TM and G&G are the same/compatible? as long as both of them are version 2, right? Thanks in advance for any and all input. |

The only difference in internals between an M4 length and M16 length is the porting on the cylinder, you're correct.

So, technically I could order the kit for the m16? would there be any major reprocussions to this?
Which other guns (that they would makes those kits for) would be closest to the cylinder porting of an M4? |

all you're looking for is a type 1 (i think), 3/4 ported cylinder for 250-430mm barrels. GB versions 2,3 and 6 all use the same cylinder just different heads.
The ftk will cost you about 30 bucks to ship (just check the quote) and really isn't worth the 160ish dollars landed cost. You're better off purchasing better individual components. |

I've put an m16 length inner barrel in my m4 before and it worked no problem. As long as they're good quality parts, it shouldn't make much of a difference. It's not like you're going from cqb length to m16 length.

Ordered the M16 kit, it was $113.59 CND landed cost, plus I get the extra set of gears.. if I run into any problems, I'll simply replace the cylinder seperately, i figure... thanks for all the help!

Here's your problem. TM M16/M4 and TM M16A1VN has different nozzle.

OK so will it work for a couple days until I can get the right one? or no? should I consider buying a new nozzle right away? I need this up and running for claybank so that's why I couldn't wait until they had them back in stock.

Not gonna work well with the included nozzle for your application; just reuse your current nozzle until you can get a better one.

They JUST got the M4 kit back in stock after I placed my order, so hopefully the e-mail I sent saying "switch my order!" gets their attention in time.

Can someone please explain how and why TM M16/M4 and TM M16A1VN have different nozzles? At first glance it seems that the only difference in the airsoft version of these weapons are the handguards. If the gearbox is version 2 and the lower reciever is the same and they use the same hopup how is it possible that they use different nozzles?
This must be a fact becasue Modify makes a nozzle for M16A1VN, XM-177E2, CAR-15 and a different one for the M16A2, M4A1/RIS/SR16 So what is the difference in the fitment between the gear box and the hopup for these variouse weapons? This is a teaching moment!

I hope your getting the fastest shipping, otherwise you might not get it in time. You still might not get it in time WITH fast shipping (customs, etc).

If you are worried about shipping costs and time constraints look at airsoftparts.ca his stock is in country and has great customer service and reasonable costs.
