BB weight

So, I'm ordering some more bb's, and I'm wondering if I should roll with Mad Bull .36g's or .40's?

My main focus is accuracy, but I don't want them too heavy.

Right now I'm running my TOKYO MARUI VSR-10 at 475fps with .25g's

I would like some input on which weight would be better suited for my gun, as I don't want to drop my range too much, but as I said, accuracy and consistency is a must.

Thanks

And do you think .30's is enough? Because I wouldn't think there wouldn't be much of a difference between .30's and .25's consistency wise.

EDIT: Checked out the bbbastard website:
.40gr - similar to the .36gr, provides more mass for greater distance with phenominal accuracy and maximum impact.

This sounds great "phenominal accuracy" What do you think?

BB bastard prices are high? From what I've seen they tent to be ALOT lower than most other brands.. (except the .30 and higher, but those are specialty ammunition)

.05 grams makes a HUUUUUUUUUUGE difference...

Even the .02 grams between a .28 and a .30 is noticeable.

(I have a VERY highly upgraded VSR-10 firing at 465 FPS)

Hmm, thanks for the input, I'll buy a bag of .30's and .36's from bbbastard.

Thanks again!

I would agree with Amos, with the .30's your going to get the best accuracy vs. cost of ammo trade off. You could run heavier but I would suggest doing exploratory purchases before committing to any large amounts.

Also I find bb bastards prices awesome. I used to pay 30 a bag for TM .20 ammo when I first started. 15 bucks for 2000 0.28's that are high qualitiy... Sign me up baby.

Just my opinion as my experience with "snipa's" is limited to second hand.

For ALL Guns use the heaviest ammo that your hopup can put onto a BB. Different by BB brand, polish, Hopup Versions, Hopup sleeves and buckings.

For the setup in my P90 that's Madbull .40 (1.65J or 415 w/0.2). I get maybe 5 ft less range maximum range but far more effective range with .40 over .30, and the accuracy difference is giant. Also can cut down berry bushes and very thick growth. It's expensive but it's a huge difference. I'm pretty sure I can go heavier with that gun since my the hopup is still only adjusted to about 50%.

If you are sniping, then their is no excuse not to go .40+ IMO. You just won't be shooting enough to worry about the cost of Ammo. You can buy the Maruzen APS/SGMs or the TM superior Grade at 0.30 since you won't be using that many in a year vs any AEG.

For 450fps to 500fps, 0.30g is the most effective weight. 0.36g and up are for either higher fps ranges, or for field with a lot of branchs where you need to place your shots in between branches at close distance. Those BBs are heavy, slow and stable, but they won't go very far at standard fps. You will notice a good drop in effective range.

I've tested them all. BB bastard BBs are good. Never had a problem with them. I only had 1 defective BB in a bag and I saw trough about 10 bags already.
Not counting the couple of bags of sniper grade ammo I have here.

Good!

Check out the second one where I compared Bastard 0.30g with SIIS 0.30g BBs, there is a noticable velocity difference. I had the two brands of the same weight, so I figured I'd side-by-side compare them, and was impressed to see the Bastards had a higher velocity, which means they are made bigger and more consistant.

So I ended up settling on a few bags of Bioval .30's, as the field I play at only allows biodegradable bb's.

The .30's are awesome, much more accurate and not much range difference at all.
Thanks again for all your guys' helpful advice!

Glad that worked out for you. Just remember that with bio bb's after opening the package you don't want them sitting for too long unless your going to be blowing through tons of bags. You might want to consider throwing some silica pouches in the bag to absorb some moisture between games.

Cheers.

.30 is a specialty ammo? That's what I shoot out of my AEGs at 415FPS when I cannot find enough .36 or .40

I can't really speak for everyone, but .30g this year is sort of the new .28g in Ontario. 36g and 40g doesn't generally see as much play out here as a regular round, but tends to be found in GBBs a lot. I have .30g coming in in 2000 count at a lower price (probably landing next week) and that reflects the change in volume. Popularity in the heavier weights seems to be following availability though, so YMMV depending on what region you're playing in.

I have to be honest I am not a big fan of the .36g or .40g formulations. I'm also *really* curious to see a .30g biobb - I'm not sure how you get a PLA based resin 6mm bb up to that weight without adding something that is *cough* bio-based. I'll be curious to run one of those through a spectrometer to see what the additives are. Reverse engineering is so much fun!
