What to put in the bag?
I just bought one MBSS MOLLE backpack like the one in the photo
and wonder what should I put in.I don't want to stuff it with useless things just to be full but with things that I might need during a short 1 day game. What would a marine put in there other than ammo? I mean survival stuffs, tools, batteries.Do you have any kind of a list or something.I want to see the list and decide what would be useful for me too and add it. Thank you in advance!

Well... definitely an hydration bladder, but other than that really if you don't know what to put in it, I'd figure you don't have to put anything inside^^
It may be stuff for use by teammates , since you have to keep in mind you can't access the contents easily without removing the vest.

I like to carry rope/paracord, zapstraps, small ammount of duct tape, bandaids/gauze, alcohol pads, EMS Shears, a knife, Sharpie, Pen, Pencil, pad, allen keys, small plyers/leatherman. And a shemagh in the bottom of the main pouch, for whatever use I may need it for. Work surface while outside, extra warmth, for a lady... Etc.
On top of that, any mission specific items. Like if I'm going to ride the shore on my bike I'll throw in a chainlinks, chain breaker, blah blah. I generally organise it all in ziplocks to keep it tidy. Last edited by Nakes; April 11th, 2010 at 18:44.. |

+1 hydration bladder (I use the 3L Source bladder in my MAP)
Otherwise just because you have space doesn't mean you HAVE to fill it. If it's a big field where's there's a lot of respawn points and I probably won't head back to wherever my pack is for a while, I'll sometimes carry my first aid kit with me. Maybe a bit of food. I keep stuff like bug juice up front where I can get to it easily if/when needed. ^^^ people listing spare clothes and stuff... he's asking about the MAP, not a full size pack. It's basically just an oversize hydro bladder with a smaller secondary pocket that'd hold an MRE at best. The whole thing is MOLLE and mounts onto the rear plate carrier for the RRV (or whatever plate carrier I guess).

I hate this type of bag, because it's useless to you when you are alone and it can't be removed easely.
But I'd carry spare ammo, water and food. Some basic tools, firestarting tools, simple first aid, spare parts. Anything you need that would be a pain to get back at the base for, yet light enough to carry with you all the time. I'd stuff all this in an assault pack. Wich I can ditch to fit in confined space, vehicles or to rest a bit.

I may add, in a hot day, stuff a Ice pack in there, it'll help to keep your water a bit cooler. You DON'T want it stupidly cold tho, really not good lol.

Hydration bladder, batteries, bag'o'bbs, rain parka and usually some amount of food (energy bars, beef jerky and the such) That's all i carry in mine. And I use the shoulder straps on mine as I found mounting it on my rig to make it useless, being able to take it off to access it is REALLY handy.

Water bladder was the only sure thing to be put in.
You helped a lot guys! The MAP isn't that small. It can keep the bladder and other stuff but not tooooo much.I bought it for short games cause I haven't been in a long game yet. One more question... Blackthorne what's a boo boo kit???

How else you gonna have a cold rickards on the fly? Hmm.. Didnt Stalker have some sort of icepack pouch thing for his brewskies? Edit : You could "repour" em into CF Thermal Canteens. I did that a while back but the canteen smelled like ass for a week after. Even after repeated washes in the dishwasher. Took about 5-6 washes to get it back to normal.
