Gas mask identification + face shield.
Simple really. I was hoping someone could ID the gas mask in this pic and possibly the helmet with face shield.
Thanks guys. |

Wow fast response and that helmet is cheap. Is it a good helmet? The sites says it will withstand 500FPS which seems good.

Well I'm working on collecting equipment for a variety of Bundeswehr rolesas I'm not super familiar with the various units and such. I'm going for something of an armour grenadier impression mainly.
I'm actually looking for multiple helmets so I can get to know what is good and what is not and so if non-airsofter friends I have wanna come play they can be spared being shot in the head. I've not gotten shot in the head yet really but I was shot in the head a lot in paintball and it's rather annoying. |

How are gasmasks/the lenses for protection against BBs? I didn't think of it until now and I don't wanna lose an eye since I couldn't race at all with out depth perception....

oh you won't be playing with a gasmask on. it's hell and it'll suffocate, over heat and squeeze your face. they are meant for storming buildings and securing the area in all of 30 seconds not prolonged warfare and alot of running around. most won't have any ballistic property's I wouldn't use it instead of real airsoft goggles or mask. bad idea. you'll end up keeping the gasmaks in its pouch

Ah. Well I was thinking of having it for decoration and show most of the time but maybe use it in winter. Also I was considering if I get a gasmask I can get replacement filters for I'd get a spare filter and hollow it out so it makes a more breathable unit.
Another headgear item I need info on is balaclavas. I don't assume they are the best but I was wondering if any thicker ones are available and where. The places I have found balaclavas so far only seem to have black and I'm unsure of how protective they would be. |

Not Eye Safe, Pretty Boy Maximus on the field take his picture!

VERY important note, any gas mask that says "ballistic lenses" is a downright LIE, Between my brother and I we've tested: israeli M15, british S10, and american M40 gas masks, all claiming to have "ballistic lenses". The israeli lenses cracked, the M40's cracked and slightly shattered sending a few shards back into the mask, and we shot clean through the S10 lenses at 310fps.
However, you CAN get polycarb or lexan lenses made up! I cut and bent 1/8 makrolon(polycarb) lenses for my M40, once you get ACTUAL ballistic rated eye piece in there, they make absolutely FANTASTIC face masks in CQB!!! And if you have a good mask, like the M40, they don't even fog! |
