Ive fired all 3, BHP, Sig 225 and Sig 226, I have to say that the P226 is the best one thats been issued to me. As for the BHP, the ones that ive fired have been the bad ones which suck. The BHP take quite the beating, but properly mantained these work extremely well given that the magazines arent fubar. As for the Sig P225/226, these have to be kept clean for maximum performance, duh. I have fired different pistols, and the Sig P226 is the far best, and my most prefered. As for who gets these, thats already been covered by Navyshooter, to add to that, the P226's are issued to Close protection folks now.

Just to add to the mix, most aircrew are issued the 225. If you're aircrew on ground op, you'll carry the HP unless you ask for the 225. When I shot my PWTs prior to going to Afghanistan, I was given the option; I took the HP. By contrast, my roommate had his issue 225 sent to Kingston from his home base so he could qual with it and take it with him to theatre.

It pales in the shadow of the Schrödinger's cat uncertainty and mystery of "they use whatever they want".
With that world view they could use every pistol at once, or simply have no pistol at all and just throw sofa cushions and rotten potatoes at the enemy.

I think it means one day he showed up on parade pulled out his own pistola and said "hey Sarge looky what I got" and then there was a predictable freak out (hindsight is 20/20).
For some reason when among the regular Army folk using whatever you want, and/or bringing your own guns from home falls into the career going alright, career stops category.
