it outlasted a CA M4?

The CA M4 in question did about a 10-20 second burst before the pinion gear shattered and sent shrapnel into the gear box, partially de-toothing a couple of the CA gears inside.

ya no, that doesn't surprised me about the CA guns, just that the firepower outlasted it.

Actually up until then the stock CA interenals were EXTREAMLY reliable. The pinion gear that shattered belong to the G&G Motor I had gotten to replace the CA motor that I had accidently dammaged when I switched pistol grips.

CA make some awesome gears. I was surprised to see that mechbox fail too. And it turns out the G&G motor was the culprit. Even the most hardened gears on the market would have failed in that situation.

It's witchcraft! Burn it! (Just watched Monty Python and the Holy Grail)
In all seriousness however, if the gun can last that long on plastic gears and a plastic mechbox, then imagine what could be done if they made it all metal. I might be even more durable than a TM and now that's a scary thought..... |

also the low-impact cheap spring may have something to do with it... it isn't exactly firing hot
As for the pinion gear, yes it can be replaced but that requires a tool we don't have. :S

Yeah. We could smell plastic heating up for sure. Not quite burning, so what we said in the video wasn't very accurate, but definitely smell plastic being heated up. I didn't see the smoke at that one point, but apparently there was a wisp of smoke that game from the gun. Not sure what it was from.
It would actually be interesting to remove the mechbox from the gun before the next test just to see what damage (if any) was caused by this test fire. We should do that before totally killing it next time.

depending on the plastic it might not smoke when i mill plastic at work it more like it smells then it does smoke per say their problay using a higer density plastic even though its lower end its easyer to machin then the cheeep cheep plastic or even puntch on presses so my money is its doing what i though it was and basicly what u were smelling was the friction from the plastics

I believe the mechbox and cylinder are polycarbonate. Not sure what the gears and other parts are made of though.
