Ok got the SAM-R in the trunk as I type this in a McDonalds parking lot (not eating here just using their free highspeed wireless connection). I havent had a chance to test it yet since I wont be out at my fathers ranch until late tonight (good thing I remember to bring ammo).

Sad part is first time I fired it, three f'ing BB's shattered INSIDE the hopup/tightbore and I havent had a chance to fire it again since that moment. Hope everything is fine internally.....

I noticed that the top receiver doesnt have the tabs that say a TM receiver does and yet this this is rock steady!

The mechbox itself is what holds the upper receiver so solid on G&P guns. The front pin keeps it from sliding off, and really is the only thing that holds the upper on the gun.
In a few post-2005 G&P guns that I've owned or worked on, that front receiver pin was very loose, and needed to be physically altered (with a hammed and chisel) to deform and enlarge it to fit the holes in the receivers. This was the only gripe I could find with the guns really. But mechboxes where users would use semi-auto, the switch stop block would break in the same fashion that Systema complete mechboxes would.

Yeah the front pin is kinda loose so I think Im going to find a place that sells the locking ones.
Yeah when I disassembled the gun for the first time Im so used to the upper receiver being able to pivot forward like a real C7. On G&P's though you have to slide the upper receiver forward after removing the front pin. |
