Like my first post in this thread says, I've hit over 550fps with my M150 cylinder unit.

For those of you who want some hard numbers on effective range, here's what I found today. I paced off distances based on where the BBs landed on a roadway at our local paintball field. 8 of my paces is 20 feet. All BBs used are 0.25g Metal Tech.
M90 = 285 fps = 65 paces = 162.5 feet M110 = 355 fps = 85 paces = 212.5 feet M130 = 395 fps = 105 paces = 262.5 feet M150 = 455 fps = 125 paces = 312.5 feet The temperature was 17 degrees and I was firing into a very slight headwind (barely noticeable). Both the M4 and CQB-R were used and the numbers are an average of the two. Neither gun was particularily better than the other in any area. These ranges were measured across level ground with the hop-up dialed in correctly. More hop-up will mean greater distance, but the accuracy suffers greatly. At these ranges, single-shot kills would be lucky shots, but a short burst will get the job done. If you were elevated (like in a sniper tower) and had a tailwind to work with, I would expect big increases in these numbers.

I've joined in on the PTW bandwagon, should be here next Wednesday!
Will help me out when I do my BMQ & SQ this summer, if the CF ever calls me back for my CFAT test. Hurry up and wait now...

I'm going to apologize in advance if this has been covered somewhere else on this site, but I have a RAS question.
I completely understand that some would pay the extra money for a real steel RAS, but is there any high-quality airsoft RAS upper and lower guards that will fit onto the PTW? Guaranteed? Aiming for a SOPMOD impression. Thanks. |

I use to have a G&P RAS II on my PTW - perfect fit, and exactly what's used for the SOPMOD revision

Thanks Dude
I did a "trial" version online for practice and well, lets just say, some of those words were nothing like the one the CF has on their site. Some of those problems were like, crap, I should have listened more carefully from grade 2 math! If train A was traveling 150 km/hr and train B was traveling at 200 km/hr, in the opposite direction, with multiple speed bumps, how long would it take train A and train B reach their destinations...:banghead: Either way, it was just a total shock in the level of difficulty from the two example tests, but no big deal, I'm not sweating it when its time to do it.

I just got mine today in the mail!
Oh man, I've got a grin from ear to ear. The burst is really fun, and the grouping is pretty good, for what it is. Single shot, well for some reason, I got a right hand curve for most bb's Its sighted with my red dot, the iron sights for some reason just don't line up, but I hardly use the iron sights anyways. I've got the M16, so its longer and the added weight, well, lets just say, I'll need to work out with weights for me left arm only. Either way, I am extremely happy for spending that kinda money on it. The PTW bug has bitten me and maybe even consider an M4 later, much later. The only issue I have with the M16A3 is the initial upper receiver separation, I followed the picture from the manual and nearly gave myself a hernia, thumbs went all blue, started to sweat. installing the battery was also a pain, and well, its staying in there discharge and charge, unless someone says thats a no-no. Now all I gotta do is wait for my M.O.U.T chest pack from Seals Gear to arrive and I'm set for TTAC. I really, really like the simulated bolt release, each time you change mags, tap that release and you're good to go. For CBQ, the length will be a concern, but I'll just hang on the outside and cover their butts doing the entry. Will need to get a sling for it, most likely a 2 point. Oh, one more thing, do I need to spray lube in the mags once in a while? Happy, Happy right now.

Unfortunately, you'll have to remove the battery after each use, so no, you can't just leave it in there.
The circuit in the gun will apply a constant power draw on the battery. If you leave it in there long enough, the low current is enough to damage the battery by draining it below its minimum. |
