Small update on my lid -went with a field expedient-ish solution for the counterweight (see USMC thread for what gave me the idea). Basically, a smoke pouch with batteries inside it with some zipties and ductape to make it hold. It's pretty much the definitive version: dind't cost any damn thing, works well, and has a purpose (holding batteries, instead of being dead weight).

Don't forget to swap the new batteries for the dead one, or your helmet will be off balanced. And don't share them. (o:

Anyway these are backup batteries, I'd use those in the crane stock or inside the TD grip before getting to use these... but you're right, I would put back the old batteries in there.
Note however that it doesn't give exactly the same weight as the PVS15s (it would need too many batteries), but it greatly reduces the helmet's tendency to tip forward, which really is all that matters.

Nice lid conker, can I ask what kind of net/material you used for the pattern and what color paints you used?
I'm gonna need to darken up my FAST replica from huang when it comes in.

Is the cover DIY? Or a modded existing cover?
Can you post some pics of the inside and how it attaches/stays in place?
