Is it possible to put a safariland holster on your plate carrier with MOLLE attachments?
And thanks for all the input, now I'm wondering if its better to get a safariland or SERPA? I don't know if the serpa can accodate a hi capa 4.3, but the safari glock 17 models do (*edit* I've been told, I have no experience with it)... which is kind of nice. I punched holes in some Malice clips and mounted a Serpa to it. I'm sure you could do the same with another holster.
It was a bit flexy though, the strike plate adapter makes it into a much more solid package. If you go for the chest look for one with the holster that goes over the rear sight. You wouldn't want this one for the belt or dropleg since it would foul your pistol but here it's fine.

Hmm...
I was thinking about how the sarafiland g17 6004 can accomodate the hi capa 4.3 and I now have a stupid question to ask. Does that mean ALL Safariland Glock17 holsters, whether designed for drop leg, or for the hip, the same? Or are there small differences within the hard shell mould that would make only the 6004 drop leg model able to house the 4.3? |

If I need to draw fast I prefer a hip holster, I can draw twice as fast from it than a leg holster!

Anybody know if SERPAs can house a tm hi capa 4.3?

I have a serpa that fits a 4.3 (even a 5.1). It was originally made for a 1911 and has been modified (previous owner said he cut the bottom 2 inches and grinded something around the trigger grip area inside the holster to make it fit).

Will a radio pouch or some other kind of utility pouch work? Might not be the best alternative :P

About 1911 SERPA's being able to accomodate 4.3's and 5.1's.
Yes, this can be done with a little modification to either a) the holster or b) the guns trigger guard itself. Since the 1911's trigger guard is rounded and the 4.3 and 5.1 trigger guard is 'squared' (for lack of a better word); You can either sand down and round off the 4.3/5.1's trigger guard until it fits the holster, or modify the holster itself though I'm unsure on how exactly that would go about. But, if you'd rather not sand down anything and you've got some extra cash laying about then just buy a TaniKoba grip set from ILLusion here on the forums. |

Awesome!
Hopefully this will be my last question regarding holsters: Which site should I get them from? I know there are several different online distributors, the question is which one do you save the most money with? Sometimes companies charge an arm and a leg for shipping, and I know I could sit at my computer all day and do my own research and ask for price quotes, but if any of you have had experience with retailers I would appreciate any insight on where I should purchase the 1911 SERPA holster. |

I though most of the issue that the 4.3 has is its boxy railed frame. Its much thicker then a standard 1911 frame. Maybe that works for a 5.1 as they have more of a standard 1911 frame

That's what I thought too. Can I have somebody confirm if its the "boxy railed frame" on the Hi-capa 4.3 that makes it incompatible with the 1911 SERPA holster, or if its the trigger guard or BOTH?

I found out some juicy information.
Look up a STI Bladetech Holster. Its fitted for the 2011 frame and box style slide. Saw one last saturday at a game. Its a friction fit system like a kydex holster. Its adjustable as far as how hard you have to pull to get it out. And it retains the pistol very well. And its in the same range as a serpa or safariland. |
