When I mount the g&p 4x32 acog on the upper receiver's rail, it's a bit loose. Is this common? I have tightened the 2 screws well.

Your rails are probably a bit off-spec. Check what's loose and shim.

it's a g&p on a g&p. How do I shim this?

Just put some electrical tape on the inside surface of the mount.

i tend to lean towards full sized scopes, myself. but for cqb i prefer an RDS simply because its more "cool" have an eotech, and thus everyone has one. i'm not a big fan of bandwagons in general, so i tend to avoid what everyone else is doing. but i also tend to just be practical. if the situation is cqb and outdoors, then i'll slap an 4x trijicon on my sg550 or 552 and be ready to kick some ass, or if the situaation warrants it, then screw preferences. i'll use an eotech.

My prefences are towards the Aimpoint T1 these, got to shoot a AR with one when I was down in the states a while back and it kicks ass. Couple it with a Larue high mount and one of the best sights on the market and half the weight of everything except a Buris or other mini dot.
I've played around with a bunch of real ACOGs and cant say I like them too much. Got a black eye once due to optic bite cuz the dam thing has no eye relief. LOVE the ACCUPoint though, awesome piece of optic. I have a hate/hate relationship with the EOtech, I've burnt out a real one on the range an have to state that they are very poor towards heat and battery life. I know some people who have had to buy over 400$ worth of batteries when they deployed so that they would not run out and they came very close to running out. In conclusion: RDS = Aimpoint Comp M2 or T1 with Larue mount Scope = ACCUPoint

^ i agree with ya except for the eotech part.
C-More is so underrated. The Aimpoint comp's are rad aside from eye relief, but then your not putting your head to the thing, you got both eyes open and such. The EOtech's and Aimpoint's are both part of the SOPMOD kit but the Aimpoints are more compatible with the NOD's. There is a reason most SF use Aimpoint. |

Well, technically, they don't use them anymore... Block 1.5 of the SOPMOD program has the replacement of the Aimpoint with a Wilcox mount for the EOTech 553 in FDE.
Block 2 has both the 553 and an ACOG with RDS for a Elcan Specter... Bit of a mistake if I may say so, rather have the S&B short dot or the ACCUPoint, both are lighter and don't have the FUNKING ARMS SYSTEM GAAAHHH
