got my stuff today
the archos 604 and the gen 4 helmet camera. both are nice. one thing ive found is that unfortunatly the camera doesnt have an inline start stop switch... which kinda blows, but the start stop is located on the player itself. i was hopeing to throw this in my radio pouch on my back, but then i wont be able to start/stop the recording, so im going to have to carry thin in my map pouch on my chest. its doable, just kinda not what i was expecting. ill film a game asap and post the link so everyone can view it soon. |

It looks like it has an inline start/stop and thats the 04 model on the website. I was thinking about picking it up myself. I posted it a day or so ago, but shoppers drug mart has the 04 series DVR station for $67. BB and futurreshop have it for $99. I love the DVR station. Direct in and out to my TV. DVD quality recording off my digital cable. Charges alot faster also. can those with Archos guncam/helmetcam setups post pics of their setups. Also, there have been some recent 04 firmware updates recently. I suggest Archos users register on http://forum.archosfans.com/index.php there are some extremely knowledgeable Archos users there. ya thats the one droc. it actually does have on/off start/stop button, but it doesnt actually STOP recording. the player still records, but the camera is of so its not recording anything. i havent messed with it yet and cant tell you if the player destinguishes the difference. apparently its suppose to so says the manuel, but ill let you know shortly.
Id definatly reccomend the set up tho, its nice, and so far makes goood movies. |

videos are kinda grainy, but then again hes gotta be doing like 60mph lol. i hope the video is a little better out in the field. ive only taken video in /around the house and its very good. i suppose another reason those videos are grainy is the compacting/degredation from uploading hey? if i was to burn vids to disk rather than uploading theyll be good quality right?

used it snowboarding this weekend. works awesome. my vids werent choppy/ grainy at all. i was very impressed with the quality. only piss off is the camera functions (buttons ect)
the 604 has a mic built in too, and the camera attatchment has a mic. from what ive gathered, the 404 has a picture camera?? built in, but a definatly smaller screen. id say the 604 is better, but 404 IS cheaper. i havent been able to upload the vids yet, photobucket limits the duration to 5mins. als, some of my vids i made, when i imported them, they say "copywritten, can only be played on origional device" so have to sort that out. any reccommendations on either would be nice. |

the 404cc has the video camera built in...but its more then the standard 404.
should also point out, that anyone with a 504 can get double capacity batteries on ebay. The 604 has a 1500mah battery i think, the 504 has a 2500mah, and the new double capacity batteries found on ebay are 5000mah...for those of you who find they dont get enough life outta their archos. Quote:
