Finally realized what the most likely problem is with regards to the bolt not locking back, at least in my case. I'll share.



The red square is showing that steel piece that is essentially the buffer for the bolt catch to lock on to. Somehow, I managed to completely obliterate that piece to the point where it doesn't even exist anymore which caused me to overlook that piece entirely on inspection. My guess for it's destruction was one of two things:

1) Dry cycling it too frequently when I first got it caused it to become too cold and brittle and simply broke.

2) Poor quality steel? If this piece really is steel, it shouldn't have broke for any reason other than it was just a lemon. Shit happens.


Ordered a new bolt to throw in there. In the meantime, using JB Weld to make my own buffer where the original one was. I'll update this with results from that little project as well as update when the new bolt comes in to see if it truly is just the bolt carrier being too damaged to function 100%.

Sorry for the kind-of necro, felt this is an easily missed/overlooked thing, especially for new users of WE Open Bolts.
