Gbb Vs AEG?

At a long milsim game, your ammo cap is probably limited (300 rounds for a rifleman is pretty common). Running a GBBR, you'll hit that cap with approx. 10 mags. You won't have to reload/re-gas, so an AEG's potential to fire more BBs on a single charge is rendered moot.

AEG's don't have a mechanism that prevents you from firing after your mag is empty. So you could be just firing air at people...

1) True, but you can tell when it's empty, and there's an upgrade for that too. Plus PTWs do that stock lol

The difference would be you have to gas up those 10 mags, and the AEG doesn't need to swap batteries.
Anyway the logistics of the two aren't reasons to buy one or the other. And if you use the torch propane tanks they're much slimmer and easier to carry.

The big differences between the two are performance.
GBBRs tend to be better out of the box, specifically since they can use heavier ammo
Upgrades are way cheaper
Truly a milsim gun
Mags are way more expensive
Doesn't work well outside it's ideal temperature range, BUT there are solutions for that

AEG's can be less expensive stock.
Reliability between AEG's and GBBRs is actually about the same (depends what guns you buy)
Works all year round without any modification
You can change the ROF, the FPS is typically very stable, and you can upgrade to polarstar which gives you the best performance aspects of both worlds minus the blowback
Batteries are cheaper than gas in the long run (propane tanks, HPA refills, cost of gas rigs, etc vs batteries, mosfet and a charger)
Cheap mags
No blowback, and simulated blowback is just a retarded idea
people are more likely to spray and pray and be non-professional and less careful with their shots since they have hicaps.

Really cost, upgrades, and all that is just moot.
GBBRs can be made to shoot in the cold, AEG's can be made to stop firing when they're empty. And if you say that GBBR's propane is cheaper than an AEG's lipo + charger + mosfet, then that's an unfair comparison because it's not the stock battery. Propane vs NiMH + battery over a year, depending what charger you buy, is fair. converting a GBBR to HPA vs AEG with lipo, mosfet, charger, etc is fair.
Upgrades are really up to what YOU want it to do. But telling someone to buy a GBBR for their first gun because it COULD be made to shoot in the cold, is not a good reason to buy a gun.
Buy this can-am spyder as your first vehicle! Because if you buy studded winter tires, and put 200lbs of sand bags on it, and install a heater, you could drive it in the winter!

i've got both and like em both. i use each for dif style of games. gbb are typically more fun to shoot (more realistic). gas guns are more problems if you play in cold weather, and the mags are more maintenance however in my experience the guns themselves are more reliable than aegs. gas limits you as far as mag capacity, where as aegs you have the option(depending on what game you r playing and what everyone else is using). gas guns are great if you need to be stealthy as they are quieter. it's personal choice mostly depending on style of game you play really because at the end of the day a hit is a hit!

I love my WE and swear by it. Just if and when something breaks replace it will an ratech part. Most stock WE AR-15 parts are at the point that brakeages are uncommon (afyer years of testing and new models). And RA tech makes a full line of high Quality replacement parts. Mags can still be an ass. But a little maintance (cleaning, lubing, making sure mags have gas) and the gun will treat you right.

Not too sure if WE is that good. The low grade "metal" breaks much sooner than you expect.

And if you want to make it reasonably durable, the total cost of RA tech replacement parts is equal to a new WE gun.

My stock WE scar open bolt has yet to have a single internal part replaced after tens of thousands of rounds (only 2 body parts were changed to aluminium). Only a shim job on the recoil spring was needed to render it reliable.

Thanks for your info. WE's Scar and G36 seem to be a better bet.

My M14 is just terrible. The whole new RA trigger has costed me more than US $ 200 + shipping, no to mention other parts.

I've seen the weak spot on the WE M14s trigger assembly, it's just poor engineering.

My two WE M4s have been pretty reliable and trouble-free. The NPAS (and understanding how NPAS works) is essential for reliable performance, not just keeping the FPS below field limits. I also feel they're more reliable/consistent with a heavier buffer installed but I don't have empirical data to support that (but offhand I think the extra inertia may allow a bit of extra gas to flow, net result similar to high flow valves).

Broke a bolt/nozzle on one once, but I know why it happened. Have not felt the need/been able to justify the cost to get the metal RAtech one.

By far the most troublesome aspect of them is the mags. V1s leak, I've seen a couple co2 mags develop leaks (the stock seal around the piercing pin valve is shitty) and I'm sure V2 mags will leak eventually.

All in all, I also picked up a WE AK and am getting rid of all AEGs save for LMGs. Both platforms have pros and cons and after 15 years with AEGs I'll gladly take GBBR cons over AEG cons. I carry a spare complete bolt carrier, so if something in that fails I can swap it in about 15 seconds; I carry a spare (stock) trigger group, if anything breaks I can swap that in about 2 minutes; if a mag leaks I can toss it and keep using the others. Other than that, short of getting run over by a car, my gun isn't going down -- no more getting sidelined by AEG stupidity.

I can see your point. My 249s been running on the same mechbox for 5 years without fail, I know a few guns that could boast the same. But not everyone has access to a great gunsmith, and even fully upgraded AEGs can be prone to fault.
So what about upgrading your LMG to a P*? =D
