Sounds like AK mags would fit just right too!

Here you go.

Zentauron on the left, Gen 1 TACO in the middle, Costa Rig (Gen 2 TACO) on the right.

Zentauron and the Gen 1 for size comparison. The Zentauron is a double stack so it looks a bit bigger than it really is, but not by much.

The height difference between Zentauron and HSGI. Note the formed kydex on the Gen 1 Taco. Gen 2 have injection molded spacers

Comparison between Gen1 and Gen 2 TACO. Only difference is the spacer.

Zentauron are actually big enough that I can stuff a single TACO into one!

G&G 450 round hicap in the left pouch, TM low cap on the right. Both are bottomed out.

PTS PMAG on the left with pull, TM low on the right.

PTS PMAG w/pull on the left, PTS G36 PMAG w/Pull on the right

AK hicap on the left, PTS PMAG w/Pull on the right.

Left to right, AK hicap, PTS G36 Pmag w/Pull, PTS PMAD w/Pull

Hey guys, so I'm gonna be switching to an AR platform, and I'm interested in these Taco Pouches. What kind of rigs are you mounting them to?

That looks like a lot of gear. I usually run pretty low-profile. I saw HSGI's super light chest rig, it looked decent, but I'm wondering if it's TOO spartan. Anyone seen this/ had experience?

With my g36 I'm running the tasmanian tiger mk2 chest rig with some tacos on the front. And on my belt with a couple extras so I can dump the top rig if I want to go lightweight.

Going to experimenting with some kydex to see if I can make some inserts for the double pouches so I can lose the velcro flaps on the integrated pouches... and make it more verstile in holding mp7 and p90 mags. Right now the integrated pockets can hold double m4 mags.

Revisiting the idea of upgrading to the Taco pouches again.

Do the double have the same level of retention compared to the single pouch? I would think, the single would be better because it is individually held.

Ahh, but are you using very light AEG mags or heavy GBBR/GBBP mags?

5.56 pmags, which are smaller, will hold fine even when vigorously shaken. I don't have GBB mags to test, sadly.

do I need to take a video of me shaking a pistol taco with a long mp7 mag in it?

http://youtu.be/JXHxg1l0LGs

I'm holding it by the unbuckled malice clip locking end, it's slipping a little in the molle weave but the mag itself is not moving in the pouch.

Read the video info for more.

If you have a round shape like me, avoid putting them on the front of a belt, that's the only time I encountered any issue, and it was only with pistol tacos. the rifle tacos hold onto big stuff even better it seems. More surface area = more friction.

For sure a single pouch can retain a mag firmly. If I use two single taco pouches, each magazine is retained with its own elastic system.

My question is, with a double mag pouch with one mag removed, does it still have the same elastic retention strength with one mag missing?

just tried the same test with my pistol/rifle combo... shook vigorously with rifle mag out... heavy pistol mag didn't fall out. Take heavy pistol mag out and leave rifle mag in... did not even move.

Thank you for testing it.

Just wish they didn't use the malice clips for mounting. I tend to move my stuff around now and then. Is there another way to mount it like the traditional way?
