I like the V3, actually.
And T7, it seems easy, but sometimes you really have to bang it out. To the point where you worry about breaking parts. I'll take fiddly parts over brute force any day. |

You don't just start banging it on a table till it falls out, you work it out slowly and pull when you have to to maneuver around any catch points. Then again what to do I know, I was born yesterday.

Oooh no! Not at all! Why in the world would you ever think I was being sarcastic!
I was being facetious.

Thanks for your help BTW Styrak. I don't know if you read the rest of that post or not, but it turned out to be the contacts from the trigger to the selector plate. Maybe that's why I was so fed up with it-- because the problem was caused by a part that wasn't even necessary. And yes, I also realized after the fact that a cloner was not the best gun to base my opinion on.
And in case anyone was wondering, I was actually trying to start a constructive discussion on airsoft design. Although I can see how my opening comments may have indicated otherwise |

the AUG is easier to maintain if you dremel off one of the plastic 'rails' that supposedly support the internal buttplate, it makes more space to take out the mechbox, cables don't get caught on the way out.

One thing I'd like to point out while someone is bashing V3 mech boxes (well, he was at the beginning of the thread);
-How many of us have ever had to do a complete re/re on a V3 mech box because the box cracked and the front end blew off?? -How many of us have had to do a complete re/re on a V2 mech box because the box cracked and the front end blew off?? I do about 3-8 complete V2 rebuilds every winter because of guys playing out doors in the cold weather (the front end blows apart real nice like). Yet in all my years I have never ever had to rebuild a V3 box because the front end cracked/blew off. Simply put, the V3 box is a better design for handling the front end stress....even though that top sliding retainer clip is a friggin pain to remove. SHA DO

V1 - 2 broken after that no more V1 AEG V3 - 5 Broken box V2 - Lost count at 35, guaranteed over 20 of them were either progear or systema box and ALL of them were broken into more than 2 seperate piece and none of these are from winter play. Ive never had to replace a v3 box,
never had to replace v6's or 249 boxes. Ive had to replace over 30 V2's however Systemas and Progears (dispite arguably being high end quality boxes) do break. I personally havent had any as im using a Progear on my c8 and Systema box on my mp5. Most of the blowouts were from TM stock shells, 2-3 CA's, God knows how many JG, Well and G&G boxes. Higher end boxes will definately make a difference in the longetivity of the boxes, but ultimately they will break, just like pretty much any other v2 box out there. The key factor being the impact force applied to the box (Heavier spring, dry firing etc). V2 has a well known flaw with the gearbox design right at the front of the cylinder port. Ive seen boxes that have almost complete and total annihilation. One cylinder head blowout blew the front end off cleanly, shattered the cylinder head which in turn shattered the tappet plate, which the piston in finishing the cycle shore off its teeth, the metal tooth jamming into the gear and shore off 3 teeth from the sector gear. Wiring in the switch assembly had its protective coating slit off (though im not sure if thats from the blowout itself or a previous issue). V3 is a godsend in reliability compared to the V2. But if theres no space to reinforce that section, theres nothing you can do about it. Cest la vie.

But yeah, according to the above, V3's are "statistically" proven to last longer 7 to 1. ....And don't tell me that this is because more players run Armorlites. There are just as many, if not more players running AKs (that and AUGs seem to be making a come back). I just wish that these clone companies would at least manufacture mech boxes with comparable tolerances. Which is of course what the real reason behind this thread is....... ...time for me to shut up and...zzzzzzz SHA DO

At this point in time though I would like to recommend the STS to any V2 users out there who would like to prolong their life of their V2s in armalites. http://www.v2fix.com/
