ouch... this is why i buy old stuff at surplus stores with noticable wear and tear... then wash them twice =p
but yeah, go to the guy on this site. |

Don't wash them with anything else. In fact, just toss 'em. Yeah, you got ripped off HARD. Next time you're looking for CADPAT, make sure they're either of Frontenac brand (you'll see a Frontenac tag somewhere on the inside), or if you're looking for the real-deal surplussed stuff, make sure it's got the military sizing/info tag on it. It'll probably be covered in permanent marker, but that's to be expected and is totally normal.

I bought my CADPAT BDU's from www.armyoutfitters.com they have quality stuff. I wear it as part of my uniform for cadets. You cant go wrong with this store. They are located in Toronto.

The fact it's made in Pakistan should pretty much say it all. You paid an assload for shit that the store paid maybe $10 / piece for.
You know, you can get surplus issue CADPAT easily at surplus stores. Used (and in excellent condition), they sell for about $35-40 per piece normally. That's about what my issue CADPAT shirt cost me.

Generally you can see how used it is by what 'color' it is. If it's rather dark then it's pretty close to brand new (also feels 'thick' or 'heavy'), and if it's to the point where it's almost 'white' then it's really damn broken in. CADPAT also really likes to bleach in the sun, just a head's up. Might have something to do with how you wash it, generally I don't care though... |

My shirt is a first generation CADPAT, so several years old now. I've worn and washed my issue shirt many times, and it hasn't faded significantly. It was pretty much in the condition it's in now when I got it 2 years ago. The Frontenac pants I bought at the same time though... well, not so good. The greens and browns have faded a lot, and the black looks more like blue than black now. The fabric is still good, but the colours are fucked.
So yeah, I'll be replacing them with some proper issue pants in the near future. I would have bought the real issue pants along with the shirt when I got it, but unfortunately, the only pants they had in my size that day were in horrible condition, so I got the Frontenac instead. I paid double for it too. I won't be making that mistake again. It's all surplus issue stuff for me now for CADPAT.

Honestly I don't know how washing/drying affects them, minus the whole removal of the IR treatment. I had a brand new pair of pant's and after wearing them in the field for a couple weeks they were bleached, so it's kind of wonky. And if you can get the older gen CADPAT (1st gen?) the ones with buttons on the outside, get that. Personally I hate the new stuff with the button cover flap bullshit. |

Yeah, that's exactly what I have for my shirt, 1st gen with the buttons uncovered. Will be picking up the proper pants to match eventually.

Yea you'll find a lot of garbage at surplus and other retail stores pawning it off as genuine or like-issue. Army Issue has genuine cadpat, frontenac is also the best repro currently on the market imo. CPGear has frontenac for 120.00 http://www.cpgear.com/StoreBox/cloth...ories/1010.htm, but Army Issue can get you surplus issued cadpat for similar or cheaper I'd expect.

You punks  have it easy these days with the internet... In my day we wasted a lot of gas driving around, getting ripped from bad mail-order with bad photos, only once was I pleased with an OD-British pattern BDU for wearing at the rifle range or weekend exercises, then the PITA when I was promoted to cadet Flight Sergeant and wanted to get a summer Khaki kit rather than wear my heavy wool blues. Jackets with the right buttons mainly, which I never found. Then mom would freak when wanted to phone the scammers long distance to blast them for ripping me off [no 800 in those days].
