The SW-computer does not have a fuse, but it have active monitoring and the gun will self protect by shutting down the power in the event of high drain, low battery... well real the feature list at extreme-fire.com a fuse is not needed with this.

How much heat do these guys produce and how easily do they fail?

Very little heat. It's a MOSFET switch with computer control so it's capable of taking quite a load. If it does overheat, it shuts itself down. I think Gandalf's original production run of 50-60 units or so only had 2 fail, and 1 was due to inproper assembly.

The latest count of units says that there is 91 units out there now and less than a handful failures. Pretty good for a brand new concept I think
The unit shuts down if the temperature exceeds 75 degree C, if my memory serves me correct. Doing the beta trails, it was the one failure I just could not provoke. |

Actually there is a fuse on the board (200mA SMD resetting fuse), but it's there to protect the electonics. I thought that was what Mud was asking about (he sounded worried about the board itself frying.)

Will be releasing this week!
There will be 3 options available at launch: Standard Burst/Fullauto (Safe-Semi-Burst/Full) - With selector on "full", a 3 round burst is fired. Gun goes full auto if the trigger remains held down. Burst Only (Safe-Semi-Burst) - Same as above, but without the fullauto when the trigger held down. (Similar to the original M16A1) Semi-Locked (Safe-Semi-Semi) The gun is locked in the semi-only mode. This is useful for sniper guns where semi-only locking is a requirement. Anywhere a fuse holder can fit, this can fit. Last edited by DonP; March 25th, 2008 at 20:45.. Reason: Added info about options |

It's alive!
These are now available, and the online store is open! You will need some technical know-how to install this. You can read the included Quickstart documentation here -- if nothing in there looks too scary, you're good to go! |

How would the wiring work with an AUG as I know the trigger contacts are a bit funny with them.
