I personaly think that WW1 is one conflict that we should leave out of airsoft,
Its just not feasable. And lets just stick with WW2 and on .......... |

We did a WW1 scenario last year and it went pretty well. Looked up infantry compliments from 1918 and modified it to fit airsoft.
Germans inflicted heavy casualties on the British who in turn pushed them back through 4 of 6 defensive lines before a stalemate developed. This year were doing the "Ludendorf Offensive" in which it's the Germans turn to attack. From a game prospective it makes an interesting change from the more modern aspect of airsoft. Different challenges in terms of shooting, tactics, communications and team work. JW |

how did the trench warfare turn out |

We used AEG's and modified the rules to reflect using them as "bolt action" rifles. Introduced ammo limits such as 10 rounds for British rifles and 5 rounds for German...this was of course after loading an extra 3 rounds to ensure that all 10 or 5 would load from a low-cap mag. Not a perfect solution but one that worked as we were going for more the spirit of the game before absolute historical accuracy. We also introduced a 3 second rule between shots to simulate having to load a new round into the chamber.
This year several guys have Kar98's and bolt action sniper rifles so it should be even better. We chose 1918 to reflect the introduction of SMG's and lite machine guns. By having a strict limit on these types of weapon's really changed the way each side approached attack and defence. The game was held at a private field that has many trenches and bunkers built. Combined with the natural crevices created by erosion this made for a very acceptable playing field. The trench warfare was brutal for the British. Attacking over open ground into emplacments was costly. They did fairly well taking 4 out of 6 trench lines but it sure came at a price. From an accademic perspective it was really intersting to watch the tactics evolve throughout the game. Not quite how I might have done things but since I'm on the attack this year we will have to see if my theories produce any different a result. JW |

I seem to not be able to find any replicators that can make an outfit for my size... they all seem to be for fat modern day people, not skinny small people like what people were a hundred years ago.
