Great introductory post.

Welcome aboard. ASC has a ton of great information in it, you just have to sift sometimes to find it.

Happy Hunting.

Welcome to ASC.

Greylocks will love you, as you aren't contributing to his high blood pressure.

Welcome to ASC. Nice to see someone who actually has read a bunch of stuff before joining and making a "where can I get Gun X" post or some other similar post that would end with forum members chasing you down with torches and pitchforks.

Hey, this sounds like a guy who could withstand being a guinea pig for that certain "new guy test" idea that gets tossed around. We should toss some questions and see how much he's read...

Which gun is better; TM M16(stock) or TM AK47(stock)?

I'm not TOTALLY new to airsoft... well kinda. I started like some of you with clearsoft, but started to get a lot more serious about it, etc.. You know how those things go.

What I did want to do here is basically get to talk to some people that have more experience with airsoft than I do, and try and find out as much as I can in general because I don't see this hobby vacating me any time soon.

What I DIDN'T want to do is come in and go "OMG WUT GUN SHULD I BYE?!11" because we ALL know how that turns out.

I do live in Halifax, and it seems we have a great group of folks out here, though unfortunately I have yet to meet any of them... But that'll come soon once I get some gear under my belt. Heh. Guess I need a belt too huh?

So yeah - I am pretty new but there are some things I wanted to point out:

Yes, I'm aware that airsoft is WAY different than clearsoft lol
Yes, I know that airsoft can be VERY expensive, and I'm more than prepared to not only accept that fact, but have already shelled out a few hundred to get my feet wet.
I want to be a sniper.

*GASP*

Actually, yes I know - it's basically a position of "Sit and wait" but I quite enjoy that... I'm more into the tactics (not saying you can't have/use tactics when it comes to AEG's, just personal preference) and would really like to be in the background. I'm not much for rushing into situations with guns blazing, though that's also entirely fun as well!

So another thing I'm not going to do is: "OMG WHAR CAHN U GHET TEH WARIOR L69 GUNZPLZKTHXBUY!1111oneone"

Hehe, Yes, I'm a noob. I already have one LOL

That being said - again - getting my feet wet.

Anyway, there's my little intro. Wanted to say Hi, and see what's shakin', tell a bit about myself.
I already am familiar with some of you as I've been a lurker for quite some time, just never really had any gumption to actually sign up and post stuff.

Well, now I do

So to everyone else: What's up?
welcome to your strawberry crack addiction, otherwise known as airsoft.

Which gun is better; TM M16(stock) or TM AK47(stock)?
Well, I guess it really depends on what you're looking for.

Stock TM AK47:

280-300fps
65-70 rounds regular Mag, 5-600 rounds hi-cap.
It's been said that the range is approx. 120 feet for decent accuracy (stock)
8.4v battery
No barrel wobble, doesn't flex.

Overall seems to be a good gun, and seems to take kindly to upgrades.

Stock TM M16:

280-300fps
68-70 rounds regular Mag, 300 hi-cap, unless you're referring to the TM M16VN which has the 190 round hi-cap.
Range is also 120 feet roughly
8.4 v battery
Similar reviews - no barrel wobble and no flexing. (unless you have an A2 version, which has some wobble in the foregrip)

So which is better?

Well Greylocks prefers the AK47, so if it's a trick question, that's the trick answer ;-) lol

The real answer though is that there is no "better" gun unless you're comparing TM to Clearsoft... It's all personal preference. Based on what you're looking for, and what you want to do with it will help better determine what you want. It's all about research.

Some guns have obvious advantages over other guns, but it seems that various models seem to have various differences - The A1-A3 and VS all have differences between them individually, so it's hard to say without being too specific

Personally I prefer the look of the M16, but it's pretty big... especially because I'm more of the sniper type. Again - personal preference

So does this pass your test?

Well, it's nice to see a forum noob read the FAQs and guides, etc before starting to post. And I thought I was the only one that did that... And research on the guns too. Damn. That's awesome. Brings a tear to my eye. lol

Seriously though, you seem to 'get it' dude. Welcome aboard.

Sadly no go for this weekend - have a wedding to attend on Sat and family stuff on Sunday... but that's not to say that I won't be out to other games and such. Just can't make this one

Hey, seems like common sense is a little more common than I give credit for. lol But that's usually my approach when I get interested in a new forum. I lurk, read, get to know a bit of who's who, etc (if it's a public forum) before I actually join and start posting. It tends to make reception a lot warmer with forum veterans when you do that.

That being said, I'm a noob too and I've only been a member and started posting since mid-November, but started lurking and reading about a month before that. And when I started posting (especially questions), I knew better than to not do my research first.
