Wow. Just....wow.

I used .2's in my AUG at a game on Saturday, seemed to work fine. .25's would probably have better bush penetration, but I did hit a bunch of people people through a lot of brush with .2's.

I didn't want to damage your fragile body with my sweet AUG

It's not that 0.20g are awful, they just lack adequate performance. My first half or so dozen games I used 0.20g BBs in my stock MP5 and they did ok, but took a lot to get through brush to hit guys. Over the winter I upgraded to 350fps, still used 0.20g BBs for the first half dozen games, I gave up on them after I tried to hit a guy lying prone under a tree, behind a wall of dead grass about 60ft away. A locap wasted, I had yet to penetrate the dead grass, they bounced everywhere. Next locap, it took half of it for me to finally get some rounds in there. It'd take a single or three 0.25g to get through that, and also give me a farther effective range.

And now I've relegated 0.25g to basement use only, as I've been using 0.28g and am in awe of their performance, both in penetration and range.

Now that my gun is upgraded, I'm going to use .25's, since I pretty much used up my .20's on Saturday. What kind of FPS (on .20's) are you using .28's with? What I mean is, what FPS is your gun on .20's that you can effectively use .28's?

There are a number of existing threads comparing AEPs to GBBs. Just run a search on AEP.

AEG or GBB? Assume you are talking GBB considering the nature of the thread.

If AEG, my MP5A is shooting around 365fps with 0.20g BBs, and has a year old (aka. almost worn out and maybe swollen since I have to have it near full off) Guarder clear hop up rubber set. I can get just over 200ft with it using 0.28g BBs (and have witnesses and not by lobbing excessinvely, more like no more than 5deg up, mostly dead level.)

My 'used to be main' MP5SD with longer barrel has chronied around 300fps with 0.20g (last year it was 387fps, I figure I left it compressed long enough to cause the serious drop) with 2 year old rubber and zero hop up setting gets me just the same distance as my other MP5.

Sorry if that's confusing.

Hmm. 300 FPS with .2's would not translate well into .28. Like 230-240 FPS?
I've got 400 FPS, and I'm wondering whether I should get .25's or .28's.

As far as i know heavier BB's in a gbb should increse FPS due to the fact that more gas would be needed to set the BB in motion i think there is a thread about it but cant track it down now.

No, I'm saying that for outdoor use, 0.20g are pretty useless in any gun. 0.25 is the minimum onme should use in a GBB. And don't think that using heavier BBs in a GBB will have as much of a velocity drop as they do in AEGs, they stay pretty high considering. Case in point, my KSC G19 (the upgraded one) shoots 340fps with 0.20g on a warm day, and 265fps with 0.43g BBs. That's a 75fps drop for a BB weight increase of 0.23g. My M24 sniper rifle shoots 0.36g BBs 100fps slower than 0.20g. That's a 100fps drop with only a 0.16g weight increase. Heavier BBs in GBBs make the gas expand longer.

Only the theoretical fps increase would occur. It was Illusion that pointed this out to me. He said that since my G19 was chronied at 341fps with 0.20g BBs, and right after 265fps with 0.43g, in theory the gas expansion would equal that of pushing a 0.20g BB at around 380fps.
