I've got the VFC Mk12 and the externals are beautiful. The internals are fairly decent. You can run it stock without an issue but the clear piston is pretty poor quality. I've had issues with Mags not fitting properly tho which can be a pain.

Here's a review of the VFC.
http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthread.php?t=137501 As noted you won't get a Mod 0 like your picture, you'll get a Mod 1.

Danke, would it be easy enough to swap hand guard and install top rail on the VFC as per your previous links? Or would that require a new barrel as well?

In theory the hand guard and top rail should be plug and play.
Some people have said in the past some Madbull parts like barrel nuts needed to be machined so be ready for surprises. From doing a bit more reading it seems like the Mod 0 is the one to go for. That rail lets you push the scope a bit forward over the guard for better eye relief vs the other one that gives the illusion of room but really you have to keep the scope over the receiver or resort to a weird cantilevered mount.
