I love the way the Npd is disconnected from the population... They are fighting for the CUPW against the rest of the population and small business owners who are losing thousands of dollars each days...

Really wish the government pass the special law today.

Anyway... that's the way i see it (might be wrong...)

What bothers more are the NDP are playing filibuster. Nothing more, nothing less. This has nothing to even do with CPC and the Union actually agreeing on a contract!

And they're not even being subtle about... The came right out and said they will do everything they can to delay this bill. It's bad enough small business has been struggling, now they do this... You'll probably see some more businesses drop of the map soon.

the posties could be working, but management won't let them.
they were willing to work under their old contract but CP shot that idea down in favour of locking them out to force the gov't to do something.

shame on CP for all the damage it's willing to do to this country because they feel workers should be legislated back instead of bargaining in good faith.

like wise, shame on the union for using health and safety as an excuse for striking in the first place when the real issue was more geared towards extreemly generous wage increases in a time of economic uncertainty.

I might be daft (actually I is), but the whole argument re: dropping new hire wages to me seems like it has little to do with the current employee base and more to do with the union being worried about getting less membership dues from new employees. Does that make any sense?

it all depends on how union dues are collected and administered. In my workplace dues are set to a given amount a month. I cant find the CUPW collective agreement right now but it should have something about dues in there

And shame on the union for demanding more money when it literally isn't there.

Yea, that's about the way I read it to.

Decrease in membership + decrease in union dues = less union power.
