I agree. I was on a small squad later in the day with Nierbee and a couple of others. We went around the south side into what we thought was Canadian territory. Met up with Wildcard who was perched up in a tree, on his own, with one of his Pigs.

In about 30-45 odd minutes, we encountered about 3 or 4 different Canadian squads looking for a fire fight. Clearly noobs! They thought they could surprise us and out gun a pig up in a tree, 3 upgraded and tuned m4/16's and an SMG's. After picking off a few of them I think a couple of them tried to rush us which failed. Another group of them took immediate cover when they got close and then disappeared. We thought they were still hiding so we kept firing at some bushes. They literally ran away. LOL!!

Even though it was late in the day, I really don't think they understood what to do. They seriously could have used some smaller milsim experience and skirms.

I was at the convention today talking with the guys from Force Recon and they had mentioned to me they may have a gun rental for BW3. I don't know the price or the age restrictions they will have in place other then having to be 18 if someone knows how to get a hold of one of them they could help to better answer some of your questions about the event.

Yeah milsim series like BW3 aren't really noob friendly in the fact your going up against groups of people who have been playing together for years and can work magic out on the field. I've seen groups of 2-3 people completely wipe out the opposing team.

1. Wait out your 2 months and then get age verified.
2. Use this time to get your gear and kit together...which makes getting a rifle look cheap and easy.
3. Keep tabs on the local games...PM/talk to the host. Get info on how the game is run and what they think are essentials for it.
4. DON'T RUSH INTO BUYING AN AEG...especially if your budget is tight...use your time now to research (not just ask your questions on the forum and expect people to spoon feed you info...but actually do your own research)...so you can zero in on what you want when you get access to the other areas of the forum.
5. Once you can get to a game (most are 18+), post up about renting an AEG....that way you might be able to try different ones out before you plunk down $$$ on one. Also, most guys are very decent...and if you're not an arrogant, whiny, cluesless annoyance...most will be open to answering questions and showing off their stuff.

Do all that...and you'll be set in 3 months...broke and trying to figure out if you can survive by eating bbs because you can't afford food...but you'll be up and running for games...

With that many people on the field, gameplay is fast and frantic. Experiencing that as a first-timer, especially one not familiar with actually using their gear in the field, can be quite overwhelming. At BW2, I only had 2 skirmishes and 1 milsim under my belt. I was still quite a noob, but at least I understood how my equipment worked, and had a bit of an understanding of working as a team. When I got together with the RDF in the afternoon, things went really well. But based on seeing what some of these first timers were going through and my own experiences that morning, had BW2 been my first game, I probably would have hated it.

Look at it this way - going to Border Wars as your first game is kind of like racing in the Indy 500 when you just got your driver's license.

Oh yeah... and what m102404 said... lol

And there's no such law either. In Ontario, it's illegal to sell an airgun to a minor, but an adult can legally buy a gun for a minor and they can posess it unsupervised. Other provinces don't even have that law, although many store do make it their policy not to sell air guns to minors.

That's ok though... you'll learn...

While it's not illegal to own them under 18, I also don't think that 14 year old kids should be allowed to use airsoft guns without supervision. And the community rules state there's no playing airsoft under 18. So no reason for a 14 year old to own them. Besides, I can bet the OP's "airsoft" guns are from Canadian Tire or Walmart anyway. Even if there was a place that would let him play, he'd be laughed off the field.

BTW, I should add that my son is 9 and has 2 AEGs. But they're in my posession, and he only gets to use them when we're shooting together.
