TSD type 96 upgrades done
Hi guys, just to let you know that I finished assembling and testing my new cylinder/trigger set up:
Laylax teflon cylinder Laylax 7/9mm spring guide Laylax 170% 9mm spring Edit: Now PDI SS 5000 Laylax 3 elements high pressure piston Laylax power accuracy cup Laylax tapper cylinder head PDI Hop Up Firefly hard bucking PDI 6.01mm thight bore inner barrel 650mm long (PSG-1 long) Laylax Zero triger I used silicone oil for lubbing but I'm thinking it will need more lubing than going with silicone grease? Edit: Now using lithium grease for the assembly. The assembly is very easy on a Type 96. The spring is harder on the arm and the cylinder is shaking when the pressure air is release. A big clang now, no more little "click" when shooting. The zero trigger is a charm, so smooth on the touch, very nice, but for the price tag, it is normal. First shot was on the bottom of a Red Rave can, but I found out that the can being smaller, the bottom is very thicker and my bb exploded more than anything. On target shooting, you can say that the gun is very stronger than stock (maybe aroun 550fps now). Accuracy is pretty bad because of the stock inner barrel and stock spacer. A longer tight bore inner barrel will follow when cash wil allow, with a pdi hop up. Edit: Both upgrades now installed. Now the gun cost 750$, compare to 350$. 1000$ will be hit pretty soon. Edit: Past 1000$ now. http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=NAlJuXYLQO8 Last edited by Sim123456; January 16th, 2009 at 09:34.. |

I put some rifle oil in mine. Just in the silincer part.
That oil is thick and don't evaporate like silicone oil. I think it's safe for rubber too. I bought mine at Gaynadian Tire in the firearm section.

I just installed the laylax 210% spring. The spring is longer than the 170%, stifness seem the same. Installing it is tricky and hard because the spring is so hard to press down while installing the taper head. It took me a few shots and had a little hurted hand after. At this stifness use caution.
This spring is very hard on the arm to cocked, and after 10 shots, my arm was really tired (I'm not the muscle type). Power is incredible, very hot, and the accuracy seem better, wich is weird. Goes through both side of a can at 10 meter distance, and also goes through a cardboard box (where I put my energy can in). I am disassembling my cylinder each weeks to see for wear. I'm still finishing my .25g bag, I will switch to .30 after. ^^
Here are 2 shots with my chrono, .2g bbs. A bit lower then I wanted but still 2.85joule Edit: After lubing and teflon tape, best shot with .20g Last edited by Sim123456; January 16th, 2009 at 09:37.. |

I received and installed my PDI Hop Up, Firefly hard bucking and PDI 6.01 thigt bore PSG-1 650mm AEG inner barrel. The aluminium tube fir the inner barrel is very well made... too much I think, I wonder how much money did I pay for something that is now useless.
Installing the PDI Hop up is a real pain in the ass. The only instructions I found was the video on youtube of the James Bon guy, but it is not very clear. Everything is so small and has to fall on the floor at least once so you can happily turn around on your knees. I still not understand why you have to actualy tape a spring nowhere outside the hop up... The lenght of the barrel is hidden by the suppressor and there is still place fore a bit more. Now I have difficulty clipping the mag but it's still ok. I only shoot threw my crhono a couple of times, no jam at all for the KSC Perfect 0.2gbbs, and I maxed out at 620 fps, turning +- 600 fps for the shots. I received and test my third spring (Laylax 170%, 210% and PDI SS 5000) First of, going from my stock inner barrel of 495mm to a PDI 650mm inner barrel made a lot of fps lost. I went from 656 fps with 0.2g to 610 fps. With .25g bbs, I was shooting +- 575fps with my 210% Laylax spring. After installing the PDI SS 5000 spring, that is the strongest spring I found, I reached 598 fps (0.25g bbs) at 4.0 joules. So a gain of +- 25fps changing to the PDI SS 5000. Again after tunning/cleaning/disassembly the Hop up system and the inner barrel, I got a 15fps gain and I now reach 4.34J. This is with using .25bbs since I don't have anymore .20gbbs but would guess it a around 660fps.
If you have any intelligents ideas how to achieve anything higher (for indoor targer shooting and testing only), you are welcomes. |
