Propane with plastic slide???

Hey,

I was told that green gas can be used in guns with plastic slides. Is this true? More specifically, the TM glock series. Doesn't green gas damage plastic slides or are they compatible with some?

There is simply a higher chance of damage with a plastic slide. I hear TM's new Glock 17s are extremely durable, even with propane. Another thing I hear is that putting a stronger recoil spring might be a good idea...

TM GBB's are quite reliable with propane right out of the box stock plastic, ran my 226 for a year and a half plastic and never a problem. Just upgrade to the enhanced hammer and recoil springs, that helps with some of the impact.

I have been running my KSC Glock 17 stock for a few months on propane with out a problem.

Vast majority of cases, a metal slide is not required. I've run propane in my KSC Glocks with plastic slides and they've had no problems.

I would only invest in a metal slide, say, once my slides actually does crack or break.

I think people use "need a metal slide because the plastic one will not hold? just as an excuse to buy a metal slide because they look better.

i know this is a necro post but it shows that "I" used the search button...

this is a stock tm hicapa with a TK twist barrel probly shot bout i want to say 5000 shots or less... was looking around to see if Airsoft Surgeon or Shooter Design was better... also i lost the back sight when it cracked, will get a screw when i buy a new sight?

If I recall correctly, neither the aftermarket slides nor the after market chamber blocks come with the screw. However, there's nothing stopping from reusing the screw if you still have it.

The rear bomar sight doesn't need a screw to hold it to the slide. It's held on by the dovetails and a little "lining up ridge" on it's underside.

If it aint broke... why bother? Stick with the stock slide for awhile till it breaks then upgrade, unless you have deep pockets go nuts.
