CA SLR105A1 Questions
Hey,
Hopefully my CA SLR105A1 will be in transit soon (bought from Greg with a leg) and im thinking about my battery/charger/discharger options. I hear that getting a discharger is a good step towards looking after your battery and increasing its lifetime. Whats the word about that? Does that make a significant diffference? A good charger, I've heard, is a crucial part of a kit. Is there any model that I should be looking for? Right now, the CA SLR105A1 comes with an 8.4v 1800 NiCad battery. I'm thinking in the near future (next 3-4 months) I will invest in a more powerful battery. I'm trying to find a good charger, with this in mind, to charge these bad boys. Also, what are the pros/cons of a good charger, as opposed to a basic wall charger? Last, but not least, I'm trying to plan ahead as to which battery I would theoretically upgrade to. Any suggestions as to which type/strength of battery I should be looking for? Thanks a bunch guys, Cheers, John |

Pros to a good charger are that they have peak detection and shut off when your battery is full, as opposed to wall chargers which are generally on a timer and can damage your battery. Dischargers are only needed for NiCAD's, which i see you have, but only once in a while if it's a new NiCAD. They've apparently gotten better surrounding memory issues recently.

Been using this one for a while now and nothing but good to say about it.
http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/default/b...rger-tl15.html I' recommend you switch to NimH batteries. that's unless you plan to play a lot in winter then stick to NICD.

I've been planing to get the TLP X15 which is only about 20 bucks more than the TL15, and it can also charge LIPO batteries.

Whats a LIPO battery? Never heard of them.

Yeah, ill look into it. Might be ill wait awhile before investing in one, so that more reviews on its flaws and its strengths can come out for me to read haha.

Did a bit of research on LIPOs, found some pros/cons. While you will be saving space by using a LIPO, as they are very thin, the batteries dont really offer much more than a normal NiCad or NimH, which are much cheaper. I think i'll upgrade to a larger bat, probably in the 2000-2800 MaH range, as for type, im thinking NiCad, because I want to get some winter games in.
