Making a new harness for it isn't that hard, just ned the right wire and some basic tools to do it. Luckiliy you have a V3 so all wires are on the outside of the mechbox. Retarded easy!

I just use Mil-spec wire from work. Hehe, Teflon coated aviation grade wiring.

Argh you are lucky, well I need some good wire like that since I need some better wires as the splice is causing the overheating

Sounds like you have a short, the motor & wires will warm when used a lot, but not burn through or get really hot unless there is a short.

The overheating may be caused by a poor splice rather than simply the splice. Rather than twisting the wires together and wrapping them in tape as you described, try actually soldering them and using heat-shrink wrap to cover the join. Deep in the Bush and myself have reconnected numerous motor clips in this manner on a number of v.3 mechboxes.

Yeah thats the answer I was looking for as I knew that twisting the wires and taping it would probably not work
Heat Shrink wrap eh? I am guessing I can get that at Canadian Tire? |

You can get everything you need for this fix from Canadian Tire. The heat shrink wrap looks like black rubber tubes open at both ends.

Thanks a bunch and thanks for the description of what it looks like too, I would have been looking around for it if I did not know, cause those Canadian Tire sales associates never know where their own stuff are.

Oh boy, here I thought you spliced things like I do, over estimating the way I do things. Ya, twisting together and wrapping with electrocution tape is very bad, easy way to fuck to anything power related. I generally mesh the strands together, then solder, then heatshrink. But I mostly just got for total rewire with new wiring and connectors. For all the effort, rewire is better.

it has to be soldered. never not solder, soldier.
they have shrink tube at the Source too.

SystemA, Prometheus, Modify.
All 3 have given me good results so far. |
