dead trigger TM hicapa
so i purchased a used handgun from these fine forums and after a few shots it feels like the trigger has a 10 pound safety?(its the only way to describe it)
I made a short video showing it a little better than pics or words... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vmC7sf6UgIc i had a guy at a game take the back part off and look at the leaf spring, he said it was ok but bent it a little anyway, went to look at the "maby adjustable" trigger but couldnt get an allen key through the little holes... he then looked at it for bout 30 mins with a flashlight and didnt see anything. so thats all i know bout this ive never opend a GBB befor and dont think i can troubleshoot cause it all looks like parts to me.... any help would be nice thanks in advance Last edited by arman; April 16th, 2008 at 23:28.. |

From your second vid it looks like the aftermarket trigger needs to be shimmed where it mates with the "ring" that encircles the mag and makes contact with the leaf spring. There seems to be a lot of play on it.
Try this - move the trigger to the upward-most position. Squeeze the trigger using only the topmost part of the trigger. Does it consistently shoot? |

I agree with Endymion. There seems to be a very poor fitment between the trigger loop and the trigger and between the trigger and the frame. Vertically it seems that the trigger is too short so it doesn't slide closely in the frame. It also seems that the trigger loop doesn't closely fit in the trigger so there's too much play in that connection.
Three parts stack up when you pull the trigger: trigger pushes on - trigger loop pushes on - hammer sear You've got too much slop in the trigger-loop connection as well as poor registration in the frame so your hammer sear isn't being pushed far enough to release the hammer. This could be exacerbated by an incorrectly set end point adjustment in your trigger. Look into the front of your trigger for a hole leading to a set screw. This screw pokes out the back of the trigger and bears against the mag latch to limit the total pull on the trigger. If this is set too short, the trigger loop isn't allowed to move far enough. Try this test to see if you do have an end point adjustment screw (if a threaded hole is present, it might not actually have a limit screw in it). Pull the trigger and hold it back. Actuate the mag latch and feel for increased friction when pulling the trigger. If there's a more scrubbing friction when pulling the trigger which is removed when the trigger is released, then you probably have a limit screw stopping the trigger travel.

I had this same problem with one of my Hi-Capas and as it was mentioned, the trigger slop was the issue.
I solved it by placing a tiny bit of material inside the groove in the trigger that the trigger loop attaches to - just enough material to prevent the trigger from rotating. It worked fine, but I switched the trigger for a different one that didn't have the problem anyways. :P |

ok well i checked for a limit screw, it has 1, what should i do to it? screw it all the way in? also i took the back part off and looked at the leaf spring... now the trigger follows the slide back and the trigger is like a hair trigger.... i think i have the leaf spring in wrong but i looked at all the diagrams and pics...
http://www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/forum...&#entry1606363 im going to take some pics today and post them... thanks all for the help |

You should be backing the limit screw out so that the bottom of the trigger can pull further in to the housing.

For the trigger slop, I actually used some strong adhesive to fix the trigger to the loop. If you are sure if you are not gonna replace the trigger this is an easy fix to do....

another thing you can check if you do have a loose trigger thats causing you the problem. In my case if I were to depress the trigger near the top of the trigger(where the trigger loop attaches to), the hammer will drop. But if I were to depress it from middle or bottom, the trigger will just go dead(basically the trigger rotates around the pin instead of pushing the loop back)...at least that's how I troubleshoot mine when that happened to me...
