question about accessories set up.
I have a question that i couldnt figure out on google..
for those that like to have theyr RDS on the forward half of theyr gun, (lets say you have an m4, and you like to have your RDS on the heatgaurd, instead of the top rail of the receiver) would, or does anyone put theyr PEQ behind theyr RDS? im using an aimpoint as an example because i dont know how wide an EOTech is, but iv moved around my set up and it looks like the lens' for the lasers are clear of any object obstructing the view. I know most of you are probably saying 'just put the PEQ on one of the side rails, but i dont like how it looks, too bulky on one side. so, does anyone else do this? |

If it works for you, it works for you.

I agree with that. Though my concern about that set-up would be how much you can actually see. I mean, the closer your eye is to the lens, the more you can see. If the RDS was further away, I'd imagine that a good portion of your vision would be obstructed.
But yeah, if it works for you, do it.

I use 2 eyes open with a red dot. I find further down the rail is less obtrusive and you see more since the scope isn't covering your whole eye.

I say if it works for your =)
I actually put my RDS as close as possible to me... and still aim both eyes open.... I get an almost perfect view front and left and quite clear for front to 45deg right... |

Well, the question is about the PEQ... I have never, ever seen a PEQ mounted in FRONT of an optic. For the look, I would say don't do it... But if it's the way you're more comfortable and balanced, just do it and screw how it looks.
As for how practical it would be in RL to have an an/PEQ in that position, I can't say anything, because I would be speaking out of my ass...

Well, you really don't want something infront of a PEQ2/PAQ4 since that would most likely not give the PEQ2/PAQ4 a clear line of sight for the IR laser/light it shoots out an it would be pretty useless than.
Also, you would be mounting them on the handguards, there is a "heat shield" but its attached to the inside of the handguard an you wouldn't mount anything on that. |

I guess I kind of ignored half of the question there. You have to set up for max effectiveness, so if the emitter needs to be on the side rail that's where it goes.
The way something looks really can't even enter your head. It has to function itself and not impair access to or function of any other working parts. |
