Angry My Steyr AUG rant.

grrr!
I'm all pissed off at my Steyr AUG for the same reason I've always been:

The part inside the body that holds the magazine in position broke right away when I first used it and I was never able to fix it properly.
The magazine AUG is big and there is only this ridiculously tiny bit of plastic to retain it.
Of course when it's broken, the magazine moves around, I have to hold it, which is ridiculous, and misfires all the time.

I tried this repair I was very proud of, with tiny screws and all, but the plastic just breaks down in chunks , it's such crap

So now I'm trying to find some original part to replace it, and of course no one carries this part.Which I can't find the number because I lost the user's guide...

Sooo if you know which part I'm talking about or have the user guide and find the number, i'd be happy.Or if you know a place where I can get it.
Or if you just want to also rant about whatever problem on you steyr aug, do it here

grrrrrrr !

( I know it's a great aeg!!!! I knoooowwwwwwww )

you can goto arnies i beleive for scans of the manual and theres 2 people that i know of on this forum (though i cant remember the names) who deal with TM directly for their parts. They would most likely be able to help you.

No help, but a rant of my own on the AUG...

What the hell is with TM and two piece outer barrels?! Instead of one nice stiff metal barrel that's secured near the mechbox at the rear and the twist lock up front, they just had to use plastic with a wimpy aluminum sleeve for the inside half. Did they not realize that the twist lock only holds the upper half of that plate secured, and that the lower half is free to flex away from the gun? At least they fixed it for the M4 new type. Sadly, it appears the AUG is not popular enough to warrant such an upgrade.

Any time I rest my HBAR on its bipod, the front half of the barrel flexes up about 5-10 degrees
That's why I only use the para/SMG barrel now... It's one piece since it's so short.

That said, damn, she's a real workhorse that won't stop kicking... It was one of only a couple of guns to survive both the entire day playing in -18 degrees, where about three quarters of the guns went down within the first 10 minutes (mostly battery problems), and in torrential down pour where about half the guns went down just the same (it was raining so hard and fast, I had to tip my beloved AUG every few seconds because the rain had filled up my reflex sight and I couldn't see though it anymore! )
I'd say the physical design probably helps it here - the diamond cross section drives water away from the battery/motor/selector and trigger contacts, and the rear placed battery is kept warmer by your shoulder and arm if you hold it tightly.

That's a crappy problem. I have an HBAR as well, and it doesn't really flex at all. I found the AUG (or at least my AUG) to have very little barrel wobble, if at all. It's not even really noticeable.

I thought that's one of the AUG's high points, having a solid barrel mostly because it goes through the entire gun and is secured at the back.

I was looking at a way to add an aluminium tube over the plastic outer (the back section) to add a little strenght to it... but I sold my AUG

I considered making a one piece aluminum barrel for my aug. I didn't go through with it. Too tricky of a part at the time. So I made a bunch of Hbars instead.

I did shim the front part to remove play. Worked great.
