metal body for my STAR M249?
3 Questions:
Anyone know if it's possible to get a metal body for my STAR M249 or at least replace most parts with metal ones? I want to make it heavier too, closer to the real thing (i know that's alot, but still less than the M60 aka. C6)? Are metal bodies restricted fro import into Canada? Also anysugestions on how I can make it compatible with both M4 magazines as well as the box mag, like the real thing? Thanks

Although I have not seen any around - I'm sure you could track one down via someone that does have a license to import.
Metal bodies are restricted to import unless you have the license to get them (from my understanding) Just check out the FAQ in the forums - or use the search function. Quote:

CA M249 are all metal. You have a star M249 which is all plastic.
Sell the Star and buy a CA. Easy easy. |

I'snt the CA249 all metal? Did I miss something? Are you sure you don't have a STAR 249? My G&P 249 is a clear 100g heavier than the real thing when empty
C9 = M249 "minimi" C6 = M240 |

Hey C3K: Yeah it's a STAR sorry my bad, Do you know how much more the CA SAW is? As for licence to import do you know how one can obtain this licence and what it is even called? Do you know any Canadian dealers that have this licence?
Thunder Catus: Thanks for the clarification, but we were useing the C6 a week ago and the master corp said that it was the same as the M60, although I did think it looked closer to an M249. My bad. Quote:

You can buy a used CA M249.
New they can run up too the $1700 range. I bought mine used for $1200-1300 and all I needed to upgrade was the spring a few piton stuff to get it shooting 400 fps. Feels allot nicer, but hurts to run the whole day. |

Sell your star one then and buy one. Moat has one that has been for sale for awhile now I think it was $1250 + shipping.
Personally I don't like the Star. There those who love then and some who have had bad experience with them. Haven't really heard of anyone not liking the CA ones. |

Someone in Canada does have an import liscence, they are NOT going to tell you how to get one. And the only similarity between the M60 and C6 is that they both use 7.62x51, the C6 is better in every way shape and form, including the price tag.
