Mad Bull Tightbore

Ok. So I dropped a mad bull 6.03mm tightbore into my internally stock TM SR-16. It shot wonderfully since I put it in, now all of the sudden I get a lot of wild shots, punctuated by shots that are dead on. There is no pattern to the roaming shots, it just happens. And I'm not talking like a 3-4 inch varience either. It's in the neighbourhood of 2-3 feet off center.

To get an idea, in a string of 5 rounds, the first one may be dead on, the second 2 feet off to 2 o'clock, third to 7 o'clock, fourth dead on and then the fifth to 3 o'clock. This is by no means a repeating pattern, just an example.

Upon removing the barrel and a closer inspection, approximately 3/4 of an inch from the muzzle end, it appears as though the interior finish of the barrel is bubbling up, thus causing the deviance I believe.

Anyone else have a theory on this? Just to clarify, it's a Mad Bull Black Python version 2 6.03mm tightbore, length 363mm

I had the same issue with a paintball barrel (Smart Parts All American) about 10 years ago. I tried to have the interior "low friction" coating buffed out or removed, but in the end I was forced to toss a $120 (at that time) barrel.

It's the main reason I only use uncoated barrels now - either Systema brass or Prometheus SS.

I would, however, contact MadBull and suggest it is a manufacturing defect - you may just get a free replacement barrel.

The G18c one, about about 4-500 rounds through it, began behaving exactly as you're describing with yours.

I have a MB barrel in my SR, AK length, no problems at all thus far, could be one bad barrel in the bunch. As Skruface said prob a good idea to call em up and see. Dont think it could be a hop up problem as well do you?

I have a MB barrel in my G36.. 363 mm in length.
No issues with it whatsoever.
Perhaps just a lemon in the batch of barrels?
Give MB a call... just might get a free replacement.

Not the hop up, for the hop up unit works perfectly with my stock barrel. I have e-mailed mad Bull and they have agreed to replace the barrel for me, provided I return the original one to them for analysis.

its an aluminum barrel, its too light to be trusted, if i were you i'd ask for my money back and buy either a brass or better yet a stainless steel tightbore, not only is it much stronger, it also helps support the weight of your gun as opposed to the weight of your gun altering the shape of your barrel

What exactly does the inner barrel have to do with supporting the weight of the gun? Any of the stresses created during use should be loaded along the outer barrel and its mounting points. I would think it would take an awful amount of loading to affect the inner barrel.

I've seen an inner barrel get bent when someone knocked a stock TM M4 off the tailgate of a pickup (3' drop, max) and it hit barrel-first. Bent the inner and outer, but the receiver was fine.

some companies use magnesium alloys for their outer barrels, stainless steel is far superior to any magnesium allow so it will help support the outer barrel when it bends
