Trouble with Shooters Design and KSC USP .45
Well I just received my Shooters Design metal slide/barrel from UNcompany yesterday, I'm quite impressed with the construction and looks of the new parts.
I made the mistake of ordering the "Guarder" enhanced recoil/hammer spring set when I likely should have gotten the "Shooters Design" 150% one, turned out the Guarder was just as bad the stock spring and cycled the slide hardly at all. In frustration today I took a trip to a machine shop and bought a really strong spring that was roughly the same size as the requirement and so far it works amazing, nice fast crisp blow back, heavy quick snap back to the front.. almost takes two thumbs to click down the slide catch. My problem is the catch will not lock the slide back when the magazine is emptied, it just cycles until the propane is too low to move it, does anyone know if the cause is the spring being too strong? I would like to know if the 150% by Shooter is my best bet? Also, whats the best way to get those damn c clips off the front of the guide rod easily? The guy at the machine shop had to pull them off serveral times until we got the proper spring. Last thing, theres a small piece on the right hand part of the slide in front of the grip that has a red marking on it, this piece can be removed and I'm guessing is supposed to be re applied to the metal slide, I found that the two nobs on the piece don't line up with the holes on the metal slide so I cannot attach it, anyone know if I am supposed to get an aftermarket one or is the slide faulty? Any help is greatly appreciated. |

about the slide not locking back
it does sound like the slide is not cycling all the way back for the slide lock to catch that could be caused by your strong recoil spring |

btw, a strong recol spring does nothing to the power of the gun...only make the slide cycling half way

Get a spring that was intended for airsoft use. SD makes really good springs, and I think king-arms makes a set too, which I've been told is pretty good.
The mock external extractor (the long piece with a red mark) can be epoxied on if it's not alligning properly. Hope that helps. |

Well I made a mistake, it was actually the "Proud" enhanced recoil/hammer spring set not "Guarder". Anywho, that was about $12.00 usd and the non threaded Shooters Design slide/barrel was I believe $137.00. Both were in US dollars and shipping was like 30 bucks. Took around 3 weeks to arrive.
