question
I'm new to airsoft, question being,,
what is the difference wetween plastic gearboxes and metal ones in term of reliability and performance. I just recently ordered a gun, its a tokyo marui clone mp5 a5/a4 combo kit. comes with 2 stocks, retracktable and full, mock silencer, two metal mags and clip, silencer 2 baterry packs and charger, and red dot scope and rail. I suppose the gearbox is probably plastic and I would probably upgrade to a metal system as soon as possible, thats better right?. (again i'm just getting into this). does anyone have any sugestion, or experience with this gun? its made by jing gong or somthing! much apretiated, foxbat555 |

Hey there, I'm assuming that if it was a JingGong gun it was this one http://buyairsoft.ca/catalog/product...roducts_id=222 and yes, it has a metal gearbox.

Two problems; if you ordered it from outside Canada, you are screwed. If you are not over 18, and in Canada, you are also screwed.
PS, you get what you pay for. |

not entirely true grey, i was a firm believer that tm was the lowest you wanna go, but a club member just got a jg m4 and that thing is very impressive. it looks, feels, shoots and handles egsactly like a TM new type m4. its only missing trades (which skip legality/ import issues as you know, in turn cutting costs) but im comeing to the conclusion that tm really IS the lowest you CAN go now. the chinese companies are (what appeats like) they are manufacturing these guns in the egsact same building as tm, they just scoop em off the line before the engraver. i cant vouch for cmya, but i have been catching a couple reviews and even they are producing impressive equipment (esspecially compared to the junk they puked out previously).

if china arms weapons are so good, why would WGC have this note on every chinese gun on their site?
"Note: The above airsoft gun which is made in China will be tested before sending out. We will test the gun to ensure that it does work properly ( the qualified one in the test means it is able to use up one whole magazine ). However, we do not guarantee the quality of the outer surface of the airsoft gun. The quality of finishing is imperfect and may have slight flaws. No returns or exchanges will be given on any sent out items. Please consider thoroughly about the corresponding risks before making a purchase." |

That is referring to the shell of the gun not the internals and a metal body can fix that.

That sounds more like an UTG MP5 clone rather than a JG/Echo 1 MP5.

Because the quality control of chinese AEGs are very bad. Retailers just don't want to deal with servicing and repairing guns. These problems include bad shimming, bad lubing, or anything that is performance related.
There's a company here in US called Echo 1 USA. They carry JG guns with both warranty and service. The Echo 1 rebrand JG Guns cost routhly $35 more because they are hand picked and tested before they are sent out. Quote:
