adding new stops to an MP5 Retractable stock?

Couple of things I want to ask here....

1. I know this has been talked about over the years since TM MP5's came out, but are those 2 little parts that are in the side of the receiver under the end cap really needed ? was fixing the release mechanism on the CA metal retractable stock for my SD6 and I didn't even have it in there. It seems to be working as it should otherwise. The disk on the inside kept slipping whenever I moved the release and wouldn't rotate back in place to click into the stops in the sliding stock. I just crazy glued the part to seat it and it is working fine.

2. has anyone ever added another stop on the inside of the sliding stock? I don't know if the real MP5 sliding stock has as much play when the stock is at its full extended position like the aeg versions do. The middle extension stop is too short, but somewhere in between would be a perfect length for me and I keep enough of the sliding arms in the receivers slots to keep it from rocking. I was thinking of dremel-ing out some notches into the arm rails.

Thanks,
Jerold
