Star m249 Tune up
Hello everyone from Latvia
I`m planning to buy Star m249 MK2, but I`ll have to tune it up, up to 450-470fps. Do you have any experience with this ? Or any ideas shat kind of parts i`ll have to replace(gears, piston + head, cylinder + head) ? Thank you! |

That fps in Canada is really rare (most fields are limited to 400fps for AEG's) but there are a few people here that should be able to help you. Your rate of fire will drop quite a bit with a velocity that high though, may want to get torque up gears to be able to push the spring but that will reduce your ROF even more. The STAR M249 mechbox is polycarbonate which is stronger than TM potmetal but I don't know how much stronger.
CA mechboxes are a very similar design but metal and are the strongest AEG mechboxes I know of. You can get metal replacement mechbox shells for STAR guns which may be require, may not, don't know. |

I don't know about getting it that High, but one of the guys on my team is also getting one, and he has looked into the mechbox upgrades that STAR makes for them. Apparently they are pretty sweet and easy to switch out. The one you will probablly want is called the Bully I believe. You can pretty much just drop it in from what I hear, but I havn't been able to find out a heck of alot of details on it. I'll send Jayhad this way, he is the one in the know.

Are you referring to the alternate red and yellow complete mechboxes from STAR? Just that those where never made and I believe STAR said they scrapped the plan even though it still talks about them in the manual.
