SYO-96-1700STAR
Hi-all help would be apriciated
I'm getting a gun that needs that battery(SYO-96-1700STAR) it says it's a T-shape connecter, and also comes with what I think is to change the one on your gun if it doesn't fit. But after finding the battery(with the right prongs{T-shape}) I can't find a charger! could I buy a normal charger, cut the red/black wires, and solder the one that comes with the battery onto the charger so that the batter could be hooked up to the charger? The battery I am talking about is on WGC |

It`s called a DEANs connector. You should be able to pick up a male end and some wire to make your own charge adapter from any decent RC shop. If your charger does not have a removable charging wire harness, just put a DEANs male on one end and a Tamiya mini or large female on the other, which ever you charger has.

The "extra" wires shown in the picture are to convert your existing wiring harness to the DEAN's connectors. I know G&P give you a short DEAN's wiring harness just for you to use for your charger when you buy their battery & stock sets, doesn't look like it from this manufacturer though. So, unless you gun is already wired with a DEAN's connector, you'd be butchering up you conversion harness, so you could charge it, but not use it in your gun.

Just a note: G&P connectors LOOK like Deans connectors but they're bad ripoffs... they don't fit right, and the contact plates are aluminum instead of copper. If you think you've got these crappy connectors, replace them with authentic Deans. Your AEG will thank you.

your common plugs suck, mini's have terribly high resistance and large ones are, well, large. Wires tend to fall out of both when the connectors are twisted (at least in my experience.) It is completely possible to switch everything to either large or mini tamiya, just make sure you get the polarity right.
I'd switch to deans for everything, one of the better decisions I've made in my airsoft hobby...anyone that frequents the foxden in Ottawa knows I've screwed a lot of stuff up in my guns before but deans connectors really worked out. Last edited by LUTNIT; November 15th, 2006 at 18:26.. |
