CA M15A4 hop-up
Ok I recently got an M15A4, however the range is a bit disappointing for a 509mm barrel and 330 FPS, in fact only slightly more than my TM M4 at 280 FPS. I'm assuming it's largely due to the hop-up. I am thinking about getting a guarder hop-up chamber set. Has anyone else stuck one of these on a CA M15 series AEG? Did you notice much difference? It looks exactly the same as the CA hop-up. Also would mods be required to fit it in? (the store says so, but I'm assuming they are talking about putting it into a TM) How are guarder hop-ups in general? Thanks.

were you shooting it outside. I find that my ca m15a4 preforms alot worse in the cold temperatures than when its warm out. not sure about the hop up though.

Couple of notes:
Can you get the BB to over hop (lofting or traveling up) when shooting. If not disassemble the hop and ad 1 wind of electrical tape around the hop bumper (the bumper is that little part that looks like a piece of wire insulation.) Adding a winding of tape will make it a bit bigger allowing you to engage more hop. Trim off excess tape. If you can over hop but are still getting crapy range change the bucking and clean the barrel thoroughly. CA barrels kind of blow so if a tight bore is in you future – you may want to just do that now. Gaurder in my opinion generally blow. Go for a systema – no mods will be required for fitting either. I have on occasion just not had good luck with a ho casting. Nothing that can be seen with the eye but chrony results and field test don’t lie. |

Your hop sleeve might have cylinder lube on it or may otherwise be overlubed.

Yeah I can over hop. Does that mean getting a better hop-up will not add range, as the CA hop-up can give the BB enough back spin?
Maybe it's just the barrel, it seems to get wider in the middle. Anyways I ordered a precision barrel (titanium 6.04 mm) so I expect that will help a bit. If I am still not satisfied maybe I'll upgrade the spring to get 360 FPS or so. A slight power upgrade like that, the stock metal CA gears should be fine to keep, right?

Since your getting a tight bore I would not do any work in advance of that provided its on its way. You should experiment with a Systema bucking. This may increase the FPS or give you better range. Yes your CA gears will be fine with an upgraded spring you should be able to pull a PDI 210 with stock gears and a full c size batt. The PDI will net you a bit over 400 with .25. A CA 170 should get you your 360 plus a bit more. I would throw in a bearing spring guide when you do the spring change since the box will be open.
