I hope that, because the action is fully functional (from the looks of it), that the shells are individually charged, and are ejected after each. (gas powered would sweeten the deal, and since it's Tanaka, you can pretty well count on that fact.)

I would totally have to be the other way on that...

Individually charged shells just means two things, they are expensive, and they will leak. Eject is great, but hell if they cost a lot. You'd lose one and be out $40 -- each shot.

I would much rather have a expansion chamber and a nice big tank of propane in the stock.

Anyone know Japanese, is it metal? It looks like it... but the last Tanaka shot gun had a plastic receiver.

All Tanaka guns in recent memory have been metal. The ejecting shells will likely not cost $40, maybe $10. Besides, if I can get a hold of a couple, I may be able to figure out a way to duplicate them for cheaper. (or perhaps MadMax or someone, as they have ready access to the tooling, and I just tinker.)

Personally, I would look forward (as I believe many people would) to it specifically for the shell ability for realism. (of course, for the price that they are likely to start at for the gun itself, I'm much more likely to just buy the real 870 express and have a whole lot more fun.)

The shells have been out for a wile now... Seems to be the same mech. as their M1897 trencher (amazing gun BTW, had the pleasure of using one a few weeks back). Gas loaded shells also eliminates the "oh shit I have a full tube but no gas". The 1897 had a plastic barrel and reciever, I would be supprised if this one was full metal.
