squeaky slide

I've got a USP Compact (stock) and recently bought some Motomaster Silicone Lube for it. I've read that only pure silicone lube should be applied on airsoft guns so I specifically asked the guys at Canadian Tire if the lube I bought was safe for plastics and rubber. They said it was (the spray itself claims to be safely usable on rubber).

Anyways, after applying the lube, everything seemed to go fine and smooth but after about 5 hours of sitting in my basement, I noticed the slide didn't rack smoothly when cocked (but still cycled fine), and also produced a squeaking noise from the front.

I immediately cleaned all lube from the gun after I noticed this but the gun still squeaks. The gun does not, however, squeak when fired.

Did I put too much lube? Did I buy the wrong kind and did damage to my gun? If so, what kind of lube do you guys reccomend? I'm upgrading to a metal slide so I'm not too worried about damage to the slide itself, but I'd like to get things straightened out.

thanks,

Zi-Xiao

Use a pure silicone oil from a hobby shop if you are desperate or order it from ASC Armoury. I usually use a very small amount of lube once a year. That's all. A little bottle should last you literally for years.

Overlubing your gun is pointless and detrimental to performance.

Never buy "spray silicone lube" from anyone other than ICS. There are potentially too many chemicals in them to risk it on your gun.

Most are fine if you just read the warning labels. If they have any warnings about being flammable, they are bad for your gun. Basically just stay away from "petroleum distillates" and anything that requires a warning label.

And another thing, don't trust people who work at hardware stores. They most likely only know enough to get you to buy a product ;-)

Do not use a spray, any spray. The propellant used in the spray is usually bad for airsoft guns.
Silicone oil, in liquid form, is perfect. Lithium grease (easy to get in large quantities at Canadian Tire) also works.

Just be careful what you put lithium grease on, as it will eat away rubber seals and o-rings.

Ya, this motomaster stuff has a warning label on about being flamable, explosive, and poisonous. Plus it's warning label doesn't just say DANGER, it says EXTREME DANGER.... Damn. I just hope the damage isn't too extensive.

It has never eaten any rubber parts of my AEGs. So unless GBB parts are made from a different rubber...
Not talking about huge amounts here. Lubrication does not mean dunking the gun in oil.
