I am a general newbie to airsoft, as I have only been using springers up till now. I recently got an AK-47 AEG and have been trying to find a tactical vest that will fit AK mags so I can be at least a little effective out on the field. So do vests with M16 pouches fit AK mags? If not, is there a good alternative. I'm trying to keep the cost of the vest at or below $80.
Also, what are your suggestions for about a $100 or lower sidearm? |

Your in the US man. The prices for things are very different. I suggest you go to a US forum to ask.
Its Airsoft CANADA! By the way I believe that vests that fit m16 magz will fit ak magz. |

In the interest of maintaining bilateral relations....
M16 vests will fit AK mags in terms of width, but AK mags (with the exception of Spets) are much too long and curvy for a tolerable fit in M16 vests. Below $100USD? I'd save up a little and get a WE Hi-Capa. Any model's good.

If you want something cheap and effective, 20 bucks or so will get you Chicom chest rig. Fits 3 to 4 mags, rig with 3 pouches is most common, 4 spouches is harder to get. I've used mine for a while. Or you can get Eastern Block (Russian, Polish, Bulgarian etc) mag pouches, things can be purchased for as little as 10 bucks a pop. Each pouch usually fits 3 to 4 mags.

If you want capacity for AK mags, check out this rig
http://www.flecktarn.co.uk/imtcr1nx.html It can hold 15 AK mags easily if you use all pouches and 18 if you stuff it. You may be able to find this at an American retailer, but they usually sell for $60 to $80 in Canada. They are a little hard to find here though and many guys order from the U.K. I have a couple of them for my AK's and they are the best for capacity, heat retention and price.
