Hop-up removal?

I have seen a few notes here and there about people that have removed the hop-up unit for their guns.
Is there any improvement in the distance or accuracy by doing this or will it impact the gun (G23F) in a negative fashion?

It's not the actual removal of the hop-up unit; it's the removal of the hop-up ball which engages the hop-up nub. Removing this ball is said to effectively rid of the hop-up.

You still need the entire hop-up assembly on the barrel though, as the rubber bucking is used to hold and seat the chambered BB.

Some people say removal of said hop-up improves accuracy at closer ranges, hence the reasoning why some WA GBBs do not have hop-up.

Last thing you want to do is remove the hop up. First thing you want to do is use heavier BBs.

I was just posing the question because i was curious as to why people would remove it.

If i can get better accuracy... it would be a bonus. I just got a firefly floating valve and .04 barrel from "ILLusion" today, and thought since i have the gun apart anyway......

Ok, wasn't sure WTF you were talking about. I've heard of airsoft target shooters in Japan using non-hop up barrels to shoot silhoutte targets at 100ft (hence the invent of Straight graphite coated heavy BBs), but in a pistol removing the hop up is useless. You are familiar with my set up for my G19, so that should be enough info for you to go by to get an idea how to improve things.

He's a good guy, and you'll probably just get what you ordered by mail. Just PM him and ask him to confirm that he got the payment.
