Do you prefer Pepsi or Coke? Pick the one you like best and then color-coordinate your gun to it.

Seriously. There's a huge topic on the VFC Barrett on this very page. Try a search next time. Please.

What's the difference between the Version 1 and Version 2 Barrett? Did VFC finally solve the valve compression issue and make this gun more than just a wall hanger? Been interested in one ever since they came out (practicality be damned), but after reading about them on Arnie's I was put off.

Yeah, towards the end of the other M82A1 post, you'll see my research on this topic. I too am interested, but not in a false hope. The count is 2 version 1s out of 3 were duds. On the other hand, there have been a few users report now with no problems so far using version 2 'mid-terms'. By all accounts I was able to glean, the V2's are the same guts as the V1, rearranged for easier take-down, and reinforced. Basically, the design is the same as the V1's, terminal issues and all (a spring being relied upon to hold the gas chamber closed which eventually loses its strength) but whether the reinforcements completely solve the issues or just delays them remains to be seen.

I also have a sneaking suspicion that another version isn't far off. The V2 came hot on the heels of the V1 after customer complaints forced GB-techs hand, but I can't see them resting on the laurels of an apparently doomed design. Plus the choice of name... mid-term. Sounds like a temporary solution. If you are a patient person I would advise to wait. Having said that, I am not a patient person, and with any luck, I'll be posting my personal thoughts on it in the coming months ;0)

The "mid-term" refers to the development of the REAL Barrett models, not the airsoft. Hope GBT pulls this off, sure would be nice to have a true big-bore sniper that works well.
