Weapon-mounted running lights?
Question for you - I'm in the market for a low light, weapon-mountable, prefferably colored LED running light solution. Something that will illuminate a map or a 10 foot radius so I don't kill myself in dark areas, yet won't give away my position readily.
The Surefire m900 has the torch, and then LEDs for just such a purpose. But I already have a tac grip and a nice tac light (Blackhawk Gladius), I just need a low power, low throw, low energy (red?) running light solution. I've considered a little squeeze LED, but I really don't want something I have to 'operate'. I'll be putting this under my barrel and prefferably using a pressure switch to toggle it, while I've side-mounted the Gladius on a tilt so its comfortably within reach of my thumb. Any ideas? |

Have you looked at a Quielite they come in White, Red, Blue & Green LEDs they even have them in Dual LED models blue/white, red/white, green/white. IR and UV versions are also available.
www.quitelite.com Or a INOVA 24/7 Its a neat LED device its got 8 modes. www.inova.com OR a MK6 Fingerlight http://countycomm.com/fingerlight.htm Check http://www.militarymorons.com/equipm...umination.html for more info. I have both the 24/7 and Quitelite. 24/7 is ziptied to my vest. |

Thanks Eddie, some good ideas there (MM rules).
Still though, something weapon mountable with a pressure switch, but similar in purpose to one of these. I'd want to be able to instantly turn it on or off without taking my hands off my weapon. (double check your first two links  ) |

If you didn't say weapon mounted, I would've suggested a SureFire L1 with a RED led--two stage and good for nighttime; however, it doesn't have a pressure switch and is a little smaller than standard mounting rings.
Easiest solution--get a red filter for your Gladius. I don't have my Glad in front of me so I can't recall if it's 1 inch or 1.25 bezel. From what I know, BlackHawk doesn't sell filters yet, but since the bezel is standard, and you can buy other branded filters. I know that Ken (Gladius inventor) is working on a number of upcoming lights + accessories, including a pressure switch of some type. Or get a filter and mount it on another light on your AEG. Here's something that I had, but just sold out of. Note that you need to check the size of your bezel. There are different-sized bezels for a lot of real-steel WeaponLights. The M900A with red leds is a good choice, but that doesn't work for you either. |
