Reviews on arnies and airsoft retreat. Im am pretty sure they were bought at jungle toy though which would explain them sucking. Im hoping the version 2's made vast improvements over the version 1's. Every review of the version one says its crap. Oh well i still plan to bite the bullet and see what they are like. If they suck it will be a project gun. I may even try and get one of the metal bodied ones.

hey, remember jungle toy is a VERY large distributor. chances are most of the kjw in canada came here by way of them. i'm sure their fingers are in pies we have no clue about. and as far as versions, i've never cared about it if there even is such a thing (like the ICS versions!!!). all i can tell you is what i saw firsthand. i have no beef with them and in light of their construction, why on earth would you by a tm if you're just going to spend money upgrading that too? it's like guys who want to spend $50,000 doing up a chevette just to be different. waste of money. i really feel sorry for you guys who don't have a local retailer. you have no choice but to read reviews, and talk to people, all along wondering "can i trust their opinion" or "i don't know, is it right for me". i can go and fondle a g&p, tm, ics, src, star, top or a plethora of pistols pretty much anytime i want. if you have a local retailer go there. if not then you pretty much have to either accept what reviewers say or not or go and buy lots of guns, find what you like and sell the rest. i'm sorry to be blunt.

Jungle toy has a habbit of seedy buisness. Also they buy there guns in pieces some times and assemble them. They had an src m4 they glued the inner barrel to the outer. There are plenty of reviews about jungle toy that speak negatively about them. I know what you mean about the upgrading thing. Thats why im putting seriosu thought into the metal body one.

My SRC M4 died at my first game last weekend. I suspect it's a stripped gear as the motor still turns but all I get is a grinding noise. We were playing around -20 C and it lasted about 4 hours and 2000 BB's. I'm not sure if it died because of the cold or maybe because I was running the 9.6V nunchuk battery with stock internals. Seemed to work flawlessly for the 4 hours we played, and then it was getting a bit colder and it crapped out mid-burst. I got plenty of kills with it though, and with better internals it should be good to go.

It worked out good though as my wife says I can get a new one, so I'm thinking TM AK or M14, and then I'll fix up the M4...

Probably because the cold. It's not surprising, a TM might have even done the same with that battery in the temperature.

yeah never play at those temps. i'm shocked your gun lasted that long, but they do use silicone grease throughout and i'm sure that helped. a tm would have died long before that. their grease is too thick and gels up fast. i could never get play below zero with any of my tm's.

The other guys playing were using 8.4's I believe and their only problems seemed to be their battery life. I think I should pick up one of those UTG spring shotguns for the cold days, because I just can't wait for spring to come.

Any recommendations for upgrading the mechbox? Will I need to upgrade anything besides the mechbox to make it work in the SRC?

metal bushings and see what's wrong with it. if you send to canadian airsoft, it'll come to me for repair. i could let you know what's up and suggest some upgrades. gears aren't a bad idea and new head set would be good as well.
