Winter/cold weather and Gas pistols

I was plinking cans today in my room to test accuracy because I oiled my gun and cleaned it with the window opened and the heat in my building is off. I noticed a significant decrease of power of my gun. I get around 15 shots for a 24 normal shot fill. I was using green gas. What should I do for a side arm in the winter since my gas pistol is no longer effective. Is it a good idea to buy a TM EBB?

Err...... No. EBBs aren't really gaming guns. Get an AEP if you can afford, springer if you can't, or just go without a sidearm for 4 months.

AEP's seem to dominate in the "Pistols only rounds" around here, especially when they are used with the 100 round hi cap

Thats what I was thinking but isn't it a rule that you have to have a sidearm or something I'm not sure but thats how I played back in the states this summer.

Played last weekend and it was cool in the morning and went to +10C later in the day, and GBBs worked pretty well considering and my KJW M700 (gas) worked great too (all on propane). Might play a bit tomorrow, supposed to be +3C, chances are no gas will work, but see what happens.

I rarely even bother with my sidearm anymore. Surely there is not rule that says you have to have one. That seems a bit overboard if you field makes you carry a gun that is so seldom used.

Yeah I hear that.

My problem with that would be choosing which one to use. I wouldn't be able to put down a GBB once it's out because they are so much "cooler" than AEG's. I would get the feels mixed up. I either have to use all gas/spring gun combos or an AEG.

As for AEP's, I've said ti before and I'll say it again and listen to the pointless arguments ........I think AEP's are LIZAME!!!!

We aren't forced to have one at our fields, but the big base at the LZ has a couple of small CQB buildings and four big towers, so when we attack the base and clear it of "tangos", some of us tend to draw the GBB to clear those buildings. Considering how many upgraded guns are used on both sides, and the close ranges in the CQB houses.............. Besides, the more I shoot people and clear buildings with my G19, the more I love it!!!!

well an unorthadox method would be.. to just pistol whip people with your non working GBB or AEP :P ... but since that aint allowed... you could just take some bbs and throw them people ^_^

You wouldn't believe how many BB toss kills I've seen at a springer game in the states we decided to try an all springer war all 20 of us.

A small yet useful alternate would be a stock MP5K.

I had (ok have) a TM Glock 17 springer with two mags, but I cleaned the barrel not carefully enough and ripped the hop up on it........... in other words, either I find a replacement hop up rubber for it, I buy a TM G17 parts gun and salvage it, or I sell it with the mags to someone who needs parts. Never got a kill with it, but I rarely used it except when too cool for GBBs.

One other thing that makes me unique in some ways, I use my MP5 as my primary and have my M24 sniper rifle constantly slung on my back (ya, about 25lbs of guns to lug around, not counting mags or GBBs) and at times I'll leave my MP5 a few feet away from me while I slither in with my M24 for a shot, and have been snuck up on from the sides and not having to drop the M24, dive and grab my MP5 to take out the guy 30ft away........... yes, happened once, if I had my Glock in the new holster I have now I wound't have gone through the highspeed effort. Presently I'm geared up and training in my basement holding a gun (say my MP5 slung facing any direction, or practicing with my M24 and engaging a close in target 90degrees to either side) and quick drawing my G19 and double tapping the target 30ft away........... in about 1 second. Pistols are useful, frickin fast & deadly when used right, and I'm finding I'm using my Glock more and more as I go along. For a few months worth of games, I never used it at all, now I use it a few times per game day. Know what being in love is like? Same with me and my metal slided G19. Hell, since I played last Saturday, I shot maybe a few rounds out of my sniper rifle, MP5 sat around not getting attention, have fired off at least two dozen mags with my G19. Less than a week! One of those things I guess.

I think my M19 has the world's lightest trigger pull. I have no idea why but I used my side arm a lot in the states since we didn't have mercy rules execpt no AEGs at 10 Ft. I was using a borrowed HFC gas pistol I forgot which model but I shot a guy from 10 ft he complained and I said we should have mercy but he says it isn't realistic. I got Upgraded Hi Capaed...from 15 ft and it hurt.
