A&K Masada gearbox compatibility
My brother is thinking about buying an A&K Masada but will want to upgrade the internals right away. I have a Systema mechbox I am selling and was wondering if it would drop right in? Or maybe if some of the parts that aren't compatible could be swapped with the stock parts and most of the mechbox could still be used? I believe the barrel length is compatible (both around 360mm).
This is the Mechbox I have: http://www.airsoftparts.ca/store2/in...roducts_id=496 Quote:

Normally you can but the nozzle is specific in length so you either have to get it out of the original GB or get a metal one. I think airsoft global or bomm arms is selling some.

The gearbox is just a standard V2 gearbox so anything V2 will fit. The only part that is a bitch is the nozzle. It's very long and you'll have to order it from one of those overseas retailers. IIRC, RSOV has them but metal.

Why not just run it until it breaks?
I always say if it isn't broke, don't fix it. IF things do break, you can replace them with better parts. No sense in just throwing money at something that doesn't need it, but it's your money I guess. |

I would usually agree but he's not a new players and the gun on the retailer's site is rated at 330fps. Also from the reviews I have read the bps is on bottom end of average. Most players we play with/against are around 380-410 and he would like to be in that range. He'd play a few games to see how it performed, obviously, but just wanting to see what options there are if he wants to improve it.

Well it looks like that was a typo on the retailer site. The dark earth version says 400fps and the black one says 300fps. Most other online retailers say 400 so I'll assume the black one is wrong. Will have to get my brother to contact them and confirm.

Loved the sound!!! I'm buying one next time I get a chance. I'm obviously basing my like for the gun on more then the noise coming from the gearbox. But seriously, what a great sounding AEG.

Hey I just want to help identify the exact mechbox shell. It's a V2 MP5. I go into more detail in this link here. http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthread.php?t=185404 I hope that helps others with upgrades and find LiPo ready conversions too. cheers, happy Airsofting!
